About
Simuni
|
On the southwestern coast of the island of Pag lies Simuni, a fishing village whose
surroundings are covered with macchia. The fact that it is located on the route from the
North Adriatic towards the Kornati, in the Maun Channel, and in the vicinity of the
islands of Rab, Olib, Silba, Vira and Losinj, together with its lovely pebbly beaches make
it an ideal place for those in search of a peaceful vacation. From Simuni boat excursions
are organized to the mentioned islands. In the distant past the island of Pag was
inhabited by the Liburni, an Illyrian tribe, whose archaeological remains have been found
between Simuni and Kosljun in the form of tumuli from the Iron Age.
In the vicinity of Simuni are the towns of Pag and Novalja, administrative, cultural and
commercial centers of the island offering a variety of interesting events all year round.
The most interesting is the Winter Carnival of Pag.
