General

44°50"3N 14°43'-4E Charts BA 202, MK 7, lmray M25, M24 Uvala Lopar is an inlet which cuts into the N coast of Otok Rab. It is possible to anchor here, although in strong bora and sirocco winds this bay is not as sheltered as Supetarska Draga to the S.

Approach

Approaching from W, beware of the shoals which extend off Rt Sorinj. In strong winds give Rt Sorinj and these shoals a wide berth. Approaching from NE keep clear of the coast of Rab since it is foul with shoals and isolated rocks between Rt LopiZine (about 3 cables NW of the pier at U. Lopar) and Uvala Crnika (on the E coast). In the approach to Uvala Lopar from N or E there are two shoals, Pl. Pregiba (3.9m) and Pl. Vela Sika approximately 2 cables to the S. Pl. Vela Sika, which is joined to Otok Rab, is marked by an unlit W cardinal beacon on its W edge. These dangers are situated approximately 3 cables W of the most N point of Otok Rab.

Berth

Secure bow or stern-to the pier on its SE side as space allows. There are depths of 3m at the end of the pier. The NW side of the pier is used by a car ferry during the summer months. Anchor Anchor S of the pier in 4-8m. The holding in sand and weed is good. There is a bollard, to which lines may be taken, especially in a bora.

Shelter

The bay is open to NW winds. The bora can blow violently here. The sirocco also blows strongly as it is funnelled along the valley at the head of the bay. Better shelter is available in Supetarska Draga to the S.

There is a shop amongst the trees. A cafe serves the ferry terminal. Bus service to Rab town. Uvala Misnjak
