Approach
From a distance the castle at Duino approximately lM to the W, and a conspicuous water tower up on the hillside 8 cables to the SE of the harbour help locate Sistiana. Closer to the harbour the breakwaters and the formation of the wooded bay beyond show up well. When entering do not pass too close to the breakwater heads. Beware of shell-fishing floats in the approaches to the harbour.

Berth
The berth allocated for yachts in transit is the quay adjacent to the slipway in the SE corner of the harbour. The westernmost pier on the N side of the harbour is used by a passenger ferry, which operates during the summer months. If there is no alternative you may have to moor here, but do not leave your vessel unattended when the ferry is due. Anchor It is possible to anchor in the W part of the harbour, just clear of the moorings. The holding, in sand, is unreliable.
Shelter
The bora blows strongly within the harbour, whilst the sirocco can cause a dangerous surge.

Water and electricity have been laid onto the sailing club pontoons. Water taps have also been set into the side of the quays. WC on the N side of the harbour. Fuel is available in the village (about YiM away). Several shops in the village as well as a Post Office, bank, pharmacy, tourist information, railway station and a bus service to Trieste.
