General

Approach

Santo Spirito lies 8M east of Molfetta and 5!1M west of Bari. It is difficult to spot the village and harbour until close-to since most of this coast is built-up. The metal lightposts on the ends of each breakwater are not conspicuous. Do not confuse Santo Spirito with another shallow harbour (used by boats of rowing boat size) which lies between it and Bari. Depths in the approach to Santo Spirito are comparatively shallow and no attempt should be made to enter or leave in strong onshore winds. This harbour is subject to silting, so depths may be less than charted. On entering the harbour beware of a rubble extension from the N breakwater. Within the harbour beware of a rock, just awash, which lies towards the W side of the harbour. Just S of this there is a barrier stretching NW-SE, parallel to the pontoons. The ends of this barrier are marked by lights (see plan).

Harbourmaster's office is on the E side of the harbour. Police.

Facilities

Water and electricity have been laid onto the pontoons. Petrol only from a filling station in the village. Basic supplies are available from a baker, butcher and a grocery store.
