General

The island is now connected to the mainland by a causeway, which was built during the last century. The harbour and anchorage at Rogoznica are in a sheltered landlocked basin with wooded surroundings. A marina has been built on the mainland shore to the W of the village. Not surprisingly, Rogoznica is popular with visiting yachts.

Approach

After passing Rt Gradina, on which there is a light Fl.R.5s1 5m4M, turn N into the inlet to the W of Rogoznica village if you wish to berth at the marina, anchor in this area or tie up at the quay. Rogoznica -Marina Frapa Alternatively continue past the S end of Rogoznica, avoiding the rocks off Raianj, and then turn N into the inlet to the E of Rogoznica peninsula.

Berth

Berth at the marina as directed. Alternatively, tie up bow/stern-to the quay on the W side of Rogoznica in the position indicated on the plan, avoiding the berth used by the fishing boats. Anchor There are various options for anchoring. It is possible to anchor W or NW of the village, but avoid the moorings and the rocky area. Holding in this area is considered unreliable. It is also possible to anchor E of the village near the causeway, avoiding an underwater cable, but depths are greater (10-12m). Alternatively anchor in Uvala Soline, N of this point. There is a quay used by fishing boats in this area, but SW of the quay there are depths of about 4m. The inner part of the bay is shallower. It is also possible to anchor in Uvala Stupin, keeping clear of the swimming area off the N shore.

Good all-round shelter can be found.

Facilities

Water and electricity are laid onto the pontoons at the marina. Water is also available morning and evening from the standpipe near the harbour light. A charge is made for water. In the village there are several shops including a general grocery shop, a supermarket and a butcher. Daily fruit and vegetable market. Fresh fish is occasionally on sale. Post Office and telephones. Tourist information. Cafe/bars and restaurants. Bus service {to Split, Sibenik and Zagreb). Car hire. Facilities at the marina include toilets, showers, laundry, currency exchange office, restaurants, wine bar, supermarket, swimming pool, tennis, sauna, gym, etc. at extra cost, chandlers, newsagents, car hire, diving school, workshop (agents for Volvo, Caterpillar, MCM Mercruiser, Yamaha, Yanmar, Lombardini and Perkins), 75-ton travel-lift, and winter storage. The marina can arrange for gas bottles to be refilled. There is no permanent fuel berth at Marina Frapa, but during the summer season diesel is available from a tanker between 0800 and 1600.
