Porto Santa Margherita (Marina 4 and Caorle)
General
45°35'-2N 12°52'E (entrance) Charts BA 204 Caorle and Marina 4 are located either side of the Fiume Livenza at Porto Santa Margherita and share a common entrance from seaward. The sophisticated marina and holiday complex, Marina 4, is just inside the river entrance. Traditionally Caorle was a fishing port, but it now has a modern marina located off the Canale dell'Orologio.
Approach
Approaching from E the town of Caorle with its prominent red circular belfry with a pointed roof is a good mark. The entrance to Porto S Margherita is situated 1.4M southwest of Caorle belfry. Two breakwaters, which extend some distance seaward, enclose the entrance. A minimum depth of 3.5m is to be expected, but beware of silting reducing depths. At night, the lights on the breakwaters <;:an be difficult to distinguish from the background of streetlights. During the summer, the channel is marked by buoys. Do not attempt to approach this coast, nor to enter or leave the harbour, in trong onshore winds or big seas. Immediately inside the harbour, a narrow channel leads W past guardia di finanza patrol launches, through flood gates, and into the marina complex. Another channel a little farther upstream leads NE toward Caorle. Beyond the channel leading E to Caorle the river is crossed by a low road bridge. ore that the current in the river can run strongly, making its presence felt at the harbour entrance, and making entry into the side channels leading to the marina or Caorle difficult.

Berth
Follow the channel leading into the marina to the end, and berth at the visitors berth, which is oppo ire the fuel berth. There are depths of 3.5m in the channel leading to the marina, and the minimum width of the channel is 7-4m. The channel is spanned by a footbridge, kept open at night. If the footbridge i closed, sound your foghorn to request its opening. Caorle lies further upstream, and is approached along the Canale dell'Orologio, which leads in a generally E direction. The marina lies off this canal on the starboard-hand side, through lock gates. There are R and G lights either side of the entrance. Berth as directed. Anchor It is possible to anchor in the river just downstream of the road bridge (the bottom is mud, and the holding good) but note that the current runs strongly here.
Shelter

Facilities
Both marinas have water and electricity to all berths. Toilets and showers. Marina 4 has a launderette, a fuel berth, various crane and a 40-ton travel-lift, whereas Darsena dell'Orologio only has a 20-ton crane. At both marinas repairs to hull, engines, and electrical/electronic installations are possible. Winter storage. Chandlers. Supermarket, pharmacy, Post Office, bank, ATM, telephone , restaurants, bars, discos, hotel near Marina 4. In Caorle there is a full range of shops, supermarkets, banks, ATMs, Po t Office, launderette, sail maker. Hotels, restaurants, pizzerias, Tourist Information. Doctor, dentist, pharmacy, first-aid post. Bus service, taxis and car hire. Police and customs.
