45°28'.7N 12°35'.1E Charts BA 1483, 204 Porto di Piave Vecchia is the 'port' for Lido di Jesolo. It lies on Fiume Sile, and has a number of marinas, including Marina del Faro and Marina del Cavallino, which are adjacent to each other, and Nautica Dal Vi and Porto Turistico di Jesolo, which are farther upstream.
Approach
The lighthouse, painted with black and white bands, which is situated immediately to the W of the river mouth, helps locate the entrance. There is a dangerous wreck located 0.6M due S of the lighthouse, and 3 concrete posts covered by less than lm lie just over 2 cables S of the river mouth. The river is entered between two breakwaters, which have lights on their ends. Exercise caution since the whole area is shallow. The normal minimum depth in the entrance channel is 3.5m, but beware of silting reducing these depths, particularly after a period of strong onshore winds. It is dangerous to approach this coast in strong onshore winds or big seas. Berth
Marina del Faro and Marina del Cavallino are the first marinas encountered on the port-hand side of the river. They lie approximately 1 cables from the entrance. Darsena Faro is located on the starboard side of the river, opposite Marina del Faro. Nautica Dal Vi and Porto Turistico di Jesolo lie farther upstream to starboard. Tie up as directed in the marina of your choice. lOm.

Facilities
The marinas have the usual facilities, including water, electricity, showers and toilets, telephones and bars. Fuel is available at Marina del Faro, Marina del Cavallino and Porto Turistico di Jesolo. Each marina is equipped with travel-lifts and fixed cranes, and can carry out repairs to hull, machinery, and electrical/electronic installations. Chandlers are near at hand. The marinas are served by a bus service into Lido di Jesolo, and a ferry service to Venice. Car hire and taxis. Provisions and other requirements are available in Lido di Jesolo or in Venice. Good range of restaurants, pizzerias, and cafe/bars. Tourist Information. Full medical facilities are available. VENICE AND THE LAGOON OF VENICE (VENEZIA AND THE LAGUNA DI VENETA) What boat owner, reading of Venice, has not dreamed of sailing there in his or her own vessel? It is indeed the most fitting way to visit the city, but finding a berth is not always easy. Venice is a busy place and gives the impression of eing dresed up for the tourists, and it is also expensive; despite that, it rewards a visit. The beautiful buildings, paintings and sculptures, the mosaics of St Mark's, the canals small and large, the elegant shops and cafes, and above all the atmosphere of the city, make a visit to Venice a memory to treasure. For the independent yachtsman, however, there is so much more to see and enjoy in this area than Venice alone. For vessels of moderate draught it is possible to explore large areas of the lagoon, calling at the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. Away from Venice it is possible to find perfect peace to enjoy the sunset, the seabirds, and to exchange greetings with the lagoon fishermen. . . The environmental fragility of Vemce and its lagoon, however, has led to increased regulation of yachts and other vessels. For example, sailing yachts entering the lagoon at Porto di Lido must. do so under motor, and there are strict speed limits depending on the area (20km/hour in the lagoon, 1 lkm/hour near the historic city, and 7km/hour or less in particularly sensitive areas). No waste (including detergent} can be discharged in the lagoon, and infringement results in hefty fines. The proliferation of underwater cables also means that anchoring is forbidden. Only certain local vessels are allowed to enter the Grand Canal. Vessels over 24m must report their intended arrival to the harbour authorities 24 hours in advance and employ the services of an agent to arrange a berth, complete the formalities (which includes registering with the police), and arrange for rubbish to be collected. This makes sense in that there are only a limited number of berths that can accommodate large yachts, so they have to be booked well in advance. Venice Yacht Pier Sri is the concessionaire for most yacht berths in the historic centre. They are very helpful and are willing to give advice and contact details for other agents. As the situation is prone to change it makes sense to consult Venice Yacht Pier for the current situation and regulations prior to arrival. Yachts under 24m can enter and leave freely at present. However, they are still obliged to report to the harbour office to clear in, and must take passports to the immigration police. These are Porto di Lido to the N, Porto di Malamocco in the centre, and Porto di Chioggia to the S. Porto di Lido is the closest to Venice, and is used by ships proceeding to the industrial port of Porto Marghera. A deep channel also leads to Porto Marghera from Porto di Malamocco. Due to the low-lying nature of the coast, its lack of identifying features, and the shallow depths which stretch almost a mile offshore it can be difficult to locate these entrances. Fog in the winter and a haze in the summer compound this problem. Each of the entrances has long breakwaters, and the two N entrances have fairway beacons. In strong onshore winds, particularly from the SE, this coast can become a dangerous lee shore. Porto di Lido
