General

Srebreno, to the W, has a busy beach with hotels and restaurants nearby, and a quay, which has good depths alongside and plenty of room for the visiting yacht. Mlini has a tiny shallow harbour, but better facilities. Fortunately, it is not far to walk around to Mlini from Srebreno.

Approach

There are no dangers in the approach to Srebreno, although on turning into the harbour beware of swimmers. Mlini has a number of off-lying rocks (see plan) and a concrete mooring bollard SE of the harbour. A ferry/tripper boat calls here.

Berth

Tie up alongside the quay at Srebreno as space allows. At Mlini there is only sufficient space and depth of water for small shallow-draught craft in the harbour. Larger yachts can drop an anchor and take a line to the mooring bollard, keeping out of the way of the ferry. Anchor Anchor in a suitable depth. The bottom is sand.

Shelter

Shelter at Srebreno is better than at Mlini. There is reasonable shelter at Srebreno in most conditions, although SW winds create a surge in the harbour. In strong NE winds it is advisable to take an anchor out to hold the yacht off the quay. At Mlini the only shelter is from NW through N to NE.

Facilities

Neither Srebreno nor Mlini has water laid on to the quay. There is no fuel near at hand. Srebreno has hotels, restaurants and cafe/bars. In the summer, fresh fruit and vegetables are sold from stalls set up near the harbour and beach (even on Sundays). Mlini has shops, including a supermarket, bank, Post Office, telephones, tourist information, hotels, restaurants, cafe/bars. There is a bus service to Dubrovnik from the main road.

History

Freshwater streams once powered mills at Mlini, hence the name of the village. Today there 1s a hydroelectric power station near the harbour. OtoCic Lokrum
