Medulin 44°49'N 13°56'E Pomer 44°49'-4N 13°54'-4E Charts BA 202, 201, MK 3, 4, Im ray M24 The villages of Medulin and Pomer lie on the shores of a comparatively shallow area of sheltered water, Medulinski Zaljev. There are a number of dangers in the approach, but, once inside, all-round shelter is available in attractive surroundings, Medulinski Zaljev is extremely popular with holidaymakers, many of whom take to the'water on windsurfers, rubber dinghies and speedboats, Some may also be encountered swimming in the channels!

Approach

Medulinski Zaljev is entered between Rt Madera to the NE and Rt Kamenjak to the SW, There is a radiobeacon on the peninsula, 1-4M northnorthwest of Rt Kamenjak. Conspicuous marks which help locate and identify Medulinski Zaljev are the white light tower on Plicina Albanez, the lighthouse on Hrid Porer, the tall obelisk on 0, Fenera, the twin spires of the church in Medulin, and a large hotel complex on the mainland shore S of Medulin. An area of shoals and rocks extends up to 2.2M southwest of Rt Kamenjak, which forms the south point of the Istrian peninsula, Plicina Veliki Balun is a dangerous and unmarked reef S of the light on PliCina Fenoliga, and care must be taken to avoid it if approaching from N of Hrid Porer, Plicina Albanez is an isolated rock just over 2M south of the Istrian peninsula, Sectored lights on Hrid Porer and PliCina Albanez mark these dangers, Within the outer part of the Medulinski ZaJjev are 7 small islands with various rocks and shoals around them (see plan), In the SW part of the bay 4 beacons mark isolated rocks, These beacons cannot be relied upon. Hrid Porer lighthouse, off the southern tip of the lstrian peninsula A clear channel, marked by the white sector of the light on Rt Munat, leads E of both 0. Fenera (on which there is a conspicuous obelisk) and 0. Ceja and W of 0. Bodulas. It is possible to pass to the W Hr. Porer 0. Fenera 0. Ceja Medulinski Zaljev from SE of 0. Fenera, but take care to avoid the various rocks and shallows in this approach, and do not rely on the beacons being in position. The final approach to Medulin and Pomer is made by passing between Rt Munat and Rt Kasteja, on which there is a large campsite, into a landlocked basin.
