Kastel Stari lies to the E of Kastel Novi, and the harbours are approximately )!jM apart. Each village has its castle and harbour. Both Kastel Stari and Kastel Novi are popular with holidaymakers but don't let this put you off visiting them. Approach

Depths are comparatively shallow along this stretch of coast and there are rocks close offshore to the W of Kastel Novi. The approach is otherwise straightforward. The column topped by a winged horse is a conspicuous mark from seaward. It is located between Kastel ovi and Kastel Stari. Kastel ovi to the W has a conspicuous castle at the root of the mole. Berth

Tie up along the W side of the pier where there are depths of between 2 and 4m. This harbour is more crowded than the harbour at Kastel Stari. A visiting yacht will have to anchor and take a line ashore between the local boats.

The harbour is sheltered from NW through N to E. Kastel Novi to SE. History

The castle at Kastel Stari was built in 1476, whilst the newer castle was built at Kastel Novi in 1512. The two villages grew up around the respective castles. Kastel Stafilic
