Approach
The town with its belfry and its tall factory chimneys to the S of the harbour is conspicuous. The harbour lies on the SW side of the old town and the marina S of this. There are no dangers in the approach to Izola, although note that the coastal bank is shallow for over 2 cables offshore in places. Note that the N mole has been extended. The extension consists of rubble and, as it is low-lying, can be difficult to see, although the end is marked by a red light buoy.
