Approach
The coast in this area is comparatively shallow (Sm) for some distance offshore. There are shoal patches in the N and S approaches. Approximately 9 cables NW of Filip Jakov (off Turanj), Plicina Minerva is marked by a light but depths of 4.2m extend nearly 2 cables SE from the light. Another shoal, PliCina Kocerka, about 4 cables S of Filip Jakov is also marked by a light. An isolated shoal patch with Sm over it, about 4 cables W of Filip Jakov, is not marked by a light or beacon. The harbour light at Filip Jakov is no longer maintained.
Berth
There are three basins at Filip Jakov. The most northerly is a water polo area. Visiting yachts will find the best shelter tied up bow/stern-to or alongside the quayside near the main breakwater (on which there is the disused light structure}. Alternatively, tie up along the outer side of the breakwater or at the end. Local boats are moored bow-to on the inner side of the breakwater.
Shelter
Inside the harbour there is good shelter. The outside of the breakwater is sheltered from N and E winds, but exposed to ail other directions.
