There is an oil refinery with many oil storage tanks and flares just to the NW of the village of Falconara Marittima. Serving the oil refinery is a long pier, nearly 7 cables long and extending out to sea in a NE direction. At its end (in position 43°38'.8N 13°23'.62E) is a loading quay surrounded by four mooring buoys. At night the head of the pier is lit with fixed lights (3F.Y(vert)10m2M). It does not have a fog signal. The buoys off the head of the pier are not lit. A further 1 YiM north-northeast of the head of the pier at Falconara Marittima there is an isolated oil terminal, surrounded by unlit mooring buoys.
