Approach

There are no dangers in the approach to Luka Cres, the inlet leading to Cres town. Luka Cres is entered between Rt Kovacine to the N and Rt Krizice to the S. Do not approach either headland too closely. Note that the shores of the whole inlet are -shallow, particularly off Rt Melin (where there is a reef extending nearly half a cable offshore). The reef lies in Depths in Metres .-<- : .. .. p6 CRES Rt. Kovatine':"c. The picturesque town harbour of Cres is crowded with local boats the obscured sector of the light on Rt KovaCine. There is a light on Rt Melin. Five cables E of the entrance the inlet widens. The town and harbour of Cres lie in the NE arm, and the ACI marina and a good anchorage lie in the shallower S arm. There is a minimum of 4m in the approach and entrance to the marina.

Berth

The best berth is in the marina (open throughout the year). Berth as directed by marina staff. Alternatively tie up alongside the E pier in the outer part of the Cables CRES Cable harbour or bow/stern to the W breakwater. It may be possible to find a space inside the harbour, but the inner harbour is crowded with local craft. Anchor Anchor in the S part of Luka Cres in 5 to lOm (NW of the marina). Shelter

Luka Cres offers good all-round shelter, although some swell enters the entrance channel in strong NW winds. The town quays can be flooded by lm high waves in a strong sirocco.

Facilities

Water and electricity to all berths at the marina and at the town quay. The marina also has toilets, showers, laundry, restaurant, dentist, chandlers, supermarket, workshop, 10-ton crane, 30-ton travel-lift. The marina has a fuel berth on the E quay, just N of the N breakwater. There is 4m alongside. Fuel is available from the E quay in the town. If there is no attendant here, inquire at the nearby filling station (see plan). Cres town is well supplied with shops, including supermarkets, baker, butchers, fish market and a fruit and vegetable market. Bank, ATM, Post Office, telephones. Medical centre, pharmacy, veterinary surgeon. Tourist information, hotels, restaurants, cafe/bars, campsite. Museum. The shipyard can carry out repairs to yachts (hull and machinery), and has a slip.
