Beach character
The beach spans 150 meters in length and 20 meters at its widest point, with a predominantly beige sand surface that contrasts sharply with the dark rock formations of the surrounding cliffs. The seabed is composed of standard-grain sand that slopes gradually into deeper waters, making it suitable for swimmers of all abilities. The beach's natural setting is defined by its proximity to the mountains, with vegetation covering the hillside above the shoreline.Swimming and shore
The shallow, sandy seabed extends several meters from the shore before transitioning to deeper water. Swimmers will find consistent conditions with no significant underwater obstructions. The beach's orientation within the cove creates natural shelter from direct winds, though wave action can vary depending on prevailing weather patterns.Facilities and activities
No formal amenities are available at Uvala Porat. The primary activity is hiking to the beach via a trail that begins near the village of Susak. The journey involves navigating rough terrain, including steep slopes and overgrown vegetation. This makes the beach particularly appealing to experienced hikers seeking an off-the-beaten-path destination.Access and location
Reaching Uvala Porat requires a demanding 1.5-kilometer hike from the nearest road access point near Susak village. The trail ascends through dense vegetation and crosses uneven ground, with some sections featuring loose rocks and thorny undergrowth. Visitors are advised to wear long pants and sturdy footwear, as the path becomes increasingly challenging in the final 500 meters. What visitors say
Reviewers consistently highlight the beach's natural beauty, with one calling it 'the best beach on Mali Lošinj' and another noting 'sandy bottom and super warm waters.' However, multiple visitors warn about the arduous trail, describing it as 'very steep' with sections that 'constantly get stuck on overgrown thorny plants.' One reviewer explicitly advises inexperienced travelers to avoid the path 'at any costs,' while another recommends bringing long pants and hiking during daylight hours.Practical tips
Bring long clothing to protect against thorny vegetation, carry water for the hike, and plan to arrive early to allow sufficient time for the trek. The trail is not suitable for young children or those with mobility issues. Consider visiting during shoulder season to avoid crowds, as the beach maintains a 'Minimum' crowd index even during peak months.Exploring the coast by yacht
For sailors exploring the Adriatic coast, the Susak area offers several anchorage options within a 10-nautical-mile radius. Yacht charter guests may consider visiting nearby marinas in Mali Lošinj or Rijeka for provisioning before hiking to Uvala Porat. The beach's remote location makes it an ideal destination for those seeking a secluded swimming spot after a day of sailing along the northern Dalmatian coast.Best Time to Visit
The beach's 'Good' cleanliness rating and low crowd index make it an attractive destination during high season. However, the challenging access means it's less likely to be overcrowded compared to more accessible beaches in the region.Frequently asked questions

Beautiful, natural bay. Surprisingly no trash on the beach. But you don't have to see the hiking trail into the town. If someone finds the first 50m bad and hopes that things will get better at the top, I'll have to disappoint them. It gets much worse! Very steep, the path partly slipped and you constantly get stuck on overgrown thorny plants. So if you do, then go back with long pants and in daylight! Primorje-Gorski Kotar
