Privlaka Beach, Croatia
Beach character
The beach's defining feature is its cove shape, with a narrow entrance flanked by low cliffs. The sand is predominantly beige, though the seabed transitions to standard-grain sand further out. Depth increases gradually, making it suitable for swimmers of all ages. The moderate depth progression means the water remains shallow near the shore, ideal for children, while the slightly deeper areas further out accommodate more experienced swimmers. The beach's orientation and natural contours provide some shelter from direct winds, though it is not entirely protected from coastal breezes.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions are generally favorable, with clear water and a gentle slope from the shore to deeper areas. The beach's cove structure creates a semi-enclosed environment that reduces wave intensity compared to open stretches of coast. Kayaking is a notable activity here, with opportunities to explore nearby inlets and coastal paths. Beach volleyball is also available, with a designated area for games. The absence of structured amenities means visitors should bring their own equipment, though the beach's natural features provide ample space for spontaneous play.Facilities and activities
While there are no formal facilities like showers or restrooms, the beach includes a playground for children, as noted by visitors. This makes it particularly appealing to families. The primary activities are kayaking and beach volleyball, with the latter benefiting from the beach's flat, open areas. The lack of structured amenities means visitors should plan accordingly, but the natural setting compensates with its scenic views and proximity to Zadar's cultural attractions.Access and location
Privlaka Beach is accessible via a short walk from the main road at 4 Kneza Višeslava. Parking can be challenging near the beach itself, with one reviewer noting the need to park on the main road and walk 5 minutes. The beach is situated approximately 15 kilometers from Zadar, placing it within easy reach of the city's historic sites, restaurants, and marinas. The surrounding area offers a mix of coastal landscapes, with cliffs giving way to flatter terrain further inland. What visitors say
Visitors consistently highlight the beach's family-friendly atmosphere and quality of service. Multiple reviews praise the food available at nearby establishments, with mentions of fresh seafood, well-prepared dishes, and attentive service. While the beach itself lacks formal amenities, the surrounding area offers dining options that cater to diverse tastes. The cleanliness index is listed as poor, though this may relate to the beach's natural setting rather than direct facilities.Practical tips
Be prepared for limited parking near the beach, with options available on the main road. Bring your own beach equipment, as structured facilities are minimal. The playground is a notable feature for families, and nearby restaurants offer a range of dining options. Given the beach's natural character, visitors should expect a more rustic experience compared to highly developed coastal areas.Exploring the coast by yacht

Lovely spot right on the beach with a beautiful view. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent – fresh, tasty, and nicely presented. Especially appreciated how kid-friendly it was, which made it perfect for families. We'd love to come back!
The food is excellent, tuna stake exactly as i like it. Ambiance and view are great. The service was attentive and friendly from the moment we arrived, making us feel welcome and well cared for. Really pleased with the experience.
Very tasty and fresh fish we've eaten there. Okay probably mohito was not the best, but service and delicious food compensated for it. We waited 1 h for the food to be brought, but it was ok with us. There is a playground for kids.
Simply the best for all of the family! Nice pizzas and other quick dishes, children can play in a new and safe play area, and so good for cold drinks and coffees whilst enjoying the lovely beach. Staff kind and attentive even on busy day. Everyone very happy to return each day!
Nice place on the sea side. Parking a bit complicated, but on the main road (5min. walking) is a bigger parking place. Zadar
