Potok Beach, Croatia
Beach character
Potok Beach is defined by its straight shoreline and rugged topography. The beach extends 140 meters in length and averages 10 meters in width, with a surface composed of beige sand interspersed with boulders. The seabed mirrors this composition, featuring a mix of sand and large rocks. Depth increases gradually, creating conditions that are moderate for swimming but ideal for snorkeling. The surrounding cliffs provide a scenic backdrop, offering panoramic views of the Adriatic. Despite its natural beauty, the beach is marked by a 'poor' cleanliness index, a detail noted in official records.Swimming and shore
The beach's mixed seabed of sand and boulders creates a textured swimming experience. While the water is described as 'crystal clear' in some reviews, the presence of rocks may make it less suitable for young children. Snorkeling is a highlighted activity, with visitors noting the visibility of marine life in the shallow, clear waters. The moderate depth increase allows for safe exploration, though swimmers should be mindful of the rocky sections near the shore.Facilities and activities
Potok Beach lacks official amenities such as showers, restrooms, or shaded seating areas. However, its natural setting supports activities like snorkeling, which is explicitly listed as a feature. Visitors are advised to bring their own shade, as one reviewer noted the absence of sufficient umbrellas. The beach is dog-friendly, with designated areas for pets, though this is not universally enforced.Access and location
Access to Potok Beach requires navigating a staircase of 145 steps from the road at Na krstu 6a. Parking is available nearby but is not free, with a rate of €2.60 per hour. Electric vehicle owners may appreciate the free charging option. The beach lies within the Dubrovnik-Neretva municipality, a region known for its historical significance and proximity to the UNESCO-listed Old City of Dubrovnik. Its location makes it a convenient stop for those exploring the southern Dalmatian coast. What visitors say
Reviewers consistently highlight Potok Beach's tranquility, with multiple visitors noting its lack of crowds even during peak season. One described it as a 'paradise' with 'clean water and silence,' while another praised its 'ample parking' and 'escape from the crowds.' However, the steep staircase and parking costs are recurring points of mention. A 2019 review noted the beach's 'ideal snorkeling' conditions, though some visitors found it 'a little crowded' during midweek visits.Practical tips
Bring an umbrella or sunshade for shade, as the beach lacks natural cover. Arrive early to secure parking, especially on weekends. The staircase to the beach may be challenging for those with mobility issues. For snorkeling, consider bringing your own gear, as no rental facilities are listed.Exploring the coast by yacht

Sunday and only 2 families here. Clean quiet surroundings. Ample parking. Escape the crowds and descend the 50 steps to this paradise.
Very nice beach with crystal clear water. Easy to reach by car. But u need to bring an umbrella with, coz this beach don't have enough shade for everyone :). A little bit crowded but it is still very nice stone beach which is ideal for snorkeling. Dubrovnik-Neretva
