Plovanije Beach - Premantura, Croatia
Beach character
Plovanije is a narrow cove measuring approximately 40 meters wide and 20 meters deep, with a shoreline composed of beige pebbles. The beach is flanked by low cliffs that provide natural shade, particularly in the afternoon. The seabed is covered in medium-sized pebbles, which may pose challenges for those with mobility issues but create ideal conditions for snorkeling due to the visibility of underwater rock formations. The water depth increases smoothly from the shore, making it a safe option for young swimmers and non-swimmers.Swimming and shore
The beach's primary appeal lies in its clear waters and gentle entry into the sea. Divers and snorkelers frequently note the vibrant marine life visible near the rocky seabed. While the pebble surface may feel less comfortable for prolonged sunbathing, the beach's sheltered position offers calmer conditions than many open stretches of the Istrian coast. The smooth depth transition makes it a practical choice for families with children, though the pebbles require caution for those unaccustomed to such surfaces.Facilities and activities
No formal amenities are listed for Plovanije Beach itself, but visitors frequently mention nearby options. The Njive Beach bar, located approximately 5-10 minutes on foot, is a recurring reference in reviews. Officially, the beach supports diving, kayaking, and snorkeling activities. Dogs are permitted on the beach, with signage directing users to designated areas.Access and location
The beach is accessible via a path from the road at 218 Selo 1, Premantura. Parking is available in a lot 2-300 meters from the shore, though some visitors note the walk as a minor challenge. The beach's position within Premantura means it benefits from the town's infrastructure while retaining a sense of coastal isolation. Its proximity to the broader Premantura coastline, known for its dramatic cliffs and hidden coves, makes it a natural stop for those exploring the area by car or on foot. What visitors say
Reviewers consistently highlight the beach's underwater visibility and scenic setting. One visitor noted, 'The water is clear and beautiful with lots of fish,' while another praised the 'shade available from the nearby pines.' However, several mentions of access difficulty and parking distance suggest visitors should plan accordingly. The beach's high season crowd level is described as 'packed,' though cleanliness is generally rated as 'good.' A 2019 review noted, 'Large area to park and nice pebbles (not too hard),' indicating variability in visitor experiences based on timing and conditions.Practical tips
Consider arriving early to secure parking and avoid the busiest时段. The pebble surface may require sturdy footwear for comfort. While no official facilities exist on the beach, the nearby Njive Beach bar offers refreshments. Those with mobility challenges should be prepared for the pebble terrain.Exploring the coast by yacht
For yacht charter guests exploring the Istrian coast, Plovanije Beach represents one of many sheltered coves along the Premantura shoreline. The area is part of a larger sailing region characterized by dramatic cliffs and calm bays, making it suitable for both motor and sailing yachts. Reviews
The beach is rocky, the water is clear and beautiful with lot of fish. There was enough place not too crowded. The Parking place is about 2-300 meters away.
My favorite beach out of the three in the park we went to. Great for snorkeling as others have mentioned. Shade available from the nearby pines. Njive Beach bar is only a 5 to 10 minute walk away if you need something.
Great beach, although access is a little difficult. Large area to park and nice pebbles (not too hard). Some shade available on the rocks, but not on the beach. Lots of fish to see and interesting underwater rocks to explore. No bar. Istria
