Plaza Vranjak Beach - Jablanac, Croatia
Beach character
Plaza Vranjak is a narrow cove measuring approximately 100 meters in length and 10 meters in width, with a pebbly seabed that slopes gently into the sea. The beach is flanked by low-lying mountains that provide natural shade during the hottest parts of the day, creating a microclimate that feels cooler than surrounding areas. The sea floor consists of beige pebbles, which some visitors note can make swimming slightly more challenging compared to sandy beaches. Depth increases moderately as one moves away from the shore, with cold mountain springs feeding into the bay and influencing water temperature.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Plaza Vranjak are shaped by the interplay of pebbles and mountain-fed springs. The pebbly seabed may require caution for swimmers, though the moderate depth gradient allows for safe wading. Cold mountain water inflows, noted in multiple reviews, give the sea a refreshing crispness that some visitors describe as invigorating. The shore itself is unspoiled by infrastructure, with no designated swimming areas or lifeguard services. The beach’s isolation means it is rarely crowded, even during peak summer months, though the lack of facilities means visitors should bring their own supplies.Access and location
Plaza Vranjak is not easily reached by road. Visitor reviews describe a steep, unpaved path leading to the beach from the main road near Dušikrava, requiring a 4x4 vehicle for access. The route is characterized as 'like driving the road of death' due to its sharp inclines and lack of asphalt. However, the beach is more practically accessible by boat, with nearby anchorages in the Jablanac area offering convenient drop-off points. Coordinates (44.6658, 14.93026) place it near the village of Jablanc, with the Adriatic Highway (A1) running parallel to the coast just inland. The nearest marina options can be explored via the Euro-Agent beaches map. What visitors say
Visitors consistently highlight Plaza Vranjak’s seclusion and natural beauty. Multiple reviews describe it as 'completely deserted' and 'like a scene from the movie Blue Lagoon,' emphasizing its untouched character. One reviewer noted the 'very cold mountain water inflow,' while another praised the 'wonderful little fishing village' nearby. However, the challenging road access is a recurring theme, with warnings about the steep, non-asphalt path. Despite these hurdles, the beach’s tranquility and scenic setting earn it consistently high ratings, with several visitors calling it 'exceptional' and 'extraordinary.'Practical tips
Arrive by boat for the most straightforward access to Plaza Vranjak. If driving, ensure your vehicle is equipped for rough terrain and consider the steep, unpaved road near Dušikrava. The beach’s lack of facilities means bringing water, snacks, and sunscreen is essential. While the cold mountain springs may deter some, they contribute to the sea’s refreshing quality. Visit during late spring or early autumn for milder temperatures and fewer crowds.Exploring the coast by yacht

A beautiful bay with a very cold mountain water inflow. Accessible only by boat.
A wonderful little fishing village, easily accessible by 4x4 vehicle from the main road at the turn for Dušikrava. zlatko spurej
Great, hard to find but extraordinary
Plaza like from the movie Blue Lagoon. A quiet fishing village under the Adriatic highway. Beautiful nature. Only a few houses in the village. Do not come by car. Not for the faint of heart. There is no asphalt and the road is like driving the road of death. You have never experienced such a steepness. Arrive by boat from nearby Jablanc. Lika-Senj
