Plaza Pazdehova Dramalj Beach, Croatia
Beach character
The beach’s surface is predominantly gray sand interspersed with medium-sized pebbles, creating a textured walking experience. The seabed shares a similar composition, with sand and pebbles mixing in unknown proportions. Depth increases gradually, avoiding sudden drops that could pose risks to swimmers. This moderate depth profile, combined with the beach’s straight shoreline, offers a predictable environment for water activities. Visitors note the beach’s cleanliness, though its high season crowd level can make finding spots challenging.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions are generally safe, with gradual depth increases allowing for easy entry into the water. Reviewers highlight that the beach is particularly family-friendly, as the sea level does not rise abruptly, enabling children to play safely near the shore. However, the pebble-strewn surface may require water shoes for comfort. The absence of artificial structures means the beach retains a natural character, though this also means there are no sunbeds, umbrellas, or other facilities.Facilities and activities
Plaza Pazdehova Dramalj lacks formal amenities such as sunbeds, showers, or restrooms. Its activities are centered around the natural environment: stand-up paddling (SUP), surfing, and snorkeling are explicitly noted. The beach’s pebbly shore and clear waters make it suitable for snorkeling, while the gradual depth profile supports surfing. However, the lack of infrastructure means it is less suited for those seeking convenience, though this also contributes to its quieter atmosphere compared to busier nearby beaches.Access and location
Located at Milovana Muževića 144 in Dramalj, the beach is accessible via road networks connecting to the town of Crikvenica and the broader Istrian Peninsula. Coordinates (45.19349, 14.66492) place it near the mouth of the Dramalj River, which flows into the Adriatic Sea. Nearby, an abandoned hotel—a relic of mid-20th-century tourism—adds a layer of historical context to the area. The beach’s proximity to Crikvenica, a town with marina facilities, may interest yacht charter guests exploring the northern Adriatic. What visitors say
Visitors describe a mixed experience shaped by the beach’s natural features and seasonal dynamics. In summer, the pebble-strewn shore and limited infrastructure mean finding spots can be difficult, though the lack of facilities also ensures a quieter environment. One reviewer noted the beach’s ‘clean blue sea’ and ‘kid-friendly’ water access, while another observed that the abandoned hotel nearby ‘decreases a wow effect.’ Most agree on its safety and the appeal of its unspoiled setting, though it is not recommended for those expecting modern comforts.Practical tips
Arrive early in the day to secure a spot on the beach, especially during high season. Wear water shoes to navigate the pebbles comfortably. Be prepared for limited facilities—bring your own sun protection, towels, and refreshments. The beach’s proximity to Crikvenica means nearby marinas and restaurants are accessible for yacht charter guests seeking additional services.Exploring the coast by yacht
For yacht charter guests, the northern Adriatic around Dramalj offers a mix of coastal sailing and inland exploration. The nearby town of Crikvenica hosts marinas and fuel stations, serving as a base for trips to the Istrian Peninsula or the Kvarner Gulf. While Plaza Pazdehova Dramalj itself is not an anchorage, its location provides a scenic stop for those sailing along Croatia’s less-crowded northern coast.Historical Context of Dramalj
Dramalj’s name derives from the Croatian word ‘dram,’ meaning ‘to pour,’ possibly referencing the river that flows through the village. The abandoned hotel mentioned in visitor reviews reflects the region’s mid-20th-century tourism boom, which has since shifted focus to more modern coastal developments. This historical layer adds depth to the beach’s appeal for culturally curious visitors.Anchorages in the surrounding area

Reviews
Small gravel beach. Hard to find spots in summer. No much infrastructure. Safe. Mainly local population.
It is a nice beach with pebbles and cobbles and clean blue sea. It is smaller than other beaches around. No facilities are available to provide sunbed+umbrella. Therefore this beach is more calm and less people is there. I’ve been here before than mid-Jun, maybe it would be different after the real summer season hits the calendars. Lastly but not least, the entrance to the water is kid-friendly. Your child can play all day if he likes the pebbles and cobbles. The sea level is not increasing suddenly, safe for kids to play by the seaside. #Dramalj #Crikvenica #Croatia
Nice beach with easy approach to sea. The nature is beautiful, but the abandoned hotel deacreases a wow effect. Perfect for a good swim and sunbathing. ;)
