Plaza Pavlesina Beach, Ugljan Island, Croatia
Beach character
The beach’s defining feature is its cove shape, which creates a sheltered environment despite its modest size. Natural rock formations along the shoreline offer informal shade, though sun protection is recommended for extended stays. The seabed consists of rounded boulders that transition gradually to deeper waters, a characteristic that supports both calm swimming zones and more dynamic wave activity. This geological profile aligns with visitor reports of 'azure sea' and 'picturesque views of Dugi otok,' suggesting the beach’s location offers panoramic vistas of nearby islands.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Plaza Pavlesina are influenced by its rocky seabed and cove orientation. The smooth depth increase allows for safe wading, though the boulders may pose challenges for young children. The beach’s exposure to open waters means wave activity can be more pronounced than in fully sheltered coves. Visitors have noted the clarity of the water and the visibility of Dugi otok from the shore, though the absence of artificial structures means no designated swimming zones or lifeguard services are present.Facilities and activities
No formal facilities are listed for the beach itself, but the nearby port and promenade mentioned in visitor reviews suggest access to basic services. The beach is explicitly associated with two activities: stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and surfing, likely due to its wave dynamics and open-water exposure. The lack of on-site amenities means visitors should plan for self-sufficiency, though the proximity to Ugljan’s coastal infrastructure may provide alternatives for dining or refreshments.Access and location
Plaza Pavlesina is located on the southern coast of Ugljan Island, approximately 15 kilometers from Zadar and within reach of the island’s main port facilities. The beach’s coordinates (44.12624, 15.07845) place it in a region of the Adriatic known for its sailing routes between the mainland and islands like Dugi otok. The nearby promenade leading to MULINA, referenced in visitor accounts, suggests road access to the area, though specific parking details are not documented in the beach catalog. What visitors say
Reviewers consistently describe Plaza Pavlesina as a visually striking location. One visitor noted the 'stunning azure sea' and 'picturesque view of Dugi otok,' while another called it 'the most stunning location on the planet.' Cleanliness is frequently mentioned, with multiple reviewers highlighting the beach’s 'well-organized layout' and 'clean' conditions. However, one comment noted the absence of a bar, indicating that refreshments may need to be sourced elsewhere. The beach’s moderate crowd levels during peak season suggest it balances popularity with a sense of seclusion.Practical tips
Given the beach’s natural profile and lack of formal facilities, visitors are advised to bring sun protection, water, and personal items. The absence of on-site amenities means planning for self-sufficiency, though nearby infrastructure may provide alternatives. The beach’s orientation toward open waters suggests it may be more suitable for experienced swimmers or those engaging in water sports.Exploring the coast by yacht
Plaza Pavlesina’s location on Ugljan Island places it within a well-established sailing region of the Adriatic. The nearby port and promenade make it a convenient stop for yachts exploring the Dalmatian coast, with easy access to Zadar and the islands of Dugi otok and Šolta. Euro-Agent’s yacht charter services can facilitate visits to this area, allowing guests to anchor near the beach or explore the surrounding coastline. The Adriatic’s sheltered waters and favorable sailing conditions make Ugljan an attractive base for both short-term and extended charters.Nearby Coastal Connections
The promenade leading to MULINA, mentioned in visitor reviews, suggests a walking route that may connect to other coastal landmarks on Ugljan. This could be of interest to visitors combining beach visits with exploration of the island’s shoreline. This is the most stunning location on the planet.
The beach is simply stunning with its beautiful and well-organized layout, and the waves are a sight to behold. The port is conveniently nearby, and there's a lovely promenade that leads all the way to MULINA. I highly recommend giving this place a visit if you get the chance. Ugljan Island is truly breathtaking. ❤
The beach is clean and not too crowded, but unfortunately there is no bar available. Jason Linder. Beach Practitioner • April 2023 10 Exceptional pretty Zadar
