Plaza Meka Beach, Croatia
Beach character
The beach’s most distinctive feature is its natural landscape, with sand dunes and sparse tree cover providing limited shade. The sea floor is composed of fine sand, and water depth increases gradually, making it accessible for swimmers. Reviews note the beach’s appeal to those seeking respite from crowded urban beaches, though its remote location means limited infrastructure. The absence of artificial structures preserves its untouched character, though visitors should be cautious of sea urchins near the shore, as reported by several reviewers.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Plaza Meka are generally favorable, with calm, shallow waters ideal for families and beginners. The smooth depth gradient allows for easy wading, though the sand near the shore can be uneven due to sea urchin presence. The beach’s natural contours create a sheltered environment, reducing wave intensity. For water activities, the beach is a local hub for stand-up paddleboarding and surfing, with reviewers highlighting nearby diving spots as an added attraction.Facilities and activities
Plaza Meka lacks formal amenities such as showers, restrooms, or parking lots. Access requires navigating a dirt road, with parking available approximately 5 meters from the beach. Despite this, the area supports informal water sports, including stand-up paddleboarding and surfing. Divers have noted the presence of underwater landmarks, though no rental equipment is available on-site. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own gear for these activities.Access and location
Located in Vir, a coastal town on the Zadar Peninsula, Plaza Meka is accessible via a dirt road from the main settlement. Its coordinates (44.29764° N, 15.03458° E) place it within the broader Adriatic sailing region, near the popular Zadar archipelago. While not directly adjacent to marinas or anchorages, its proximity to Vir makes it a potential stop for yachts exploring the northern Dalmatian coast. The beach’s isolation means it is best suited for visitors prioritizing tranquility over convenience. What visitors say
