Plaza Limuni Beach, Croatia
Beach character
Plaza Limuni's defining feature is its cove formation, which offers natural shade from surrounding hills. The beach surface consists of beige sand, with the seabed composed of standard-grain sand that transitions gradually into deeper water. This smooth depth increase is explicitly noted as suitable for non-swimmers and young children. The beach's landscape is described as 'picturesque,' with mountainous backdrops contributing to its scenic value. However, the beach's cleanliness index is rated 'poor,' a fact corroborated by visitor reports of visible garbage along the high tide line.Swimming and shore
The beach's shallow, clear waters are ideal for swimming, with depths increasing gradually to ensure safety for all ages. Reviewers noted the absence of sea urchins, a rare advantage for this region. However, the beach's shore is characterized by a gravel road leading to a car park, followed by a rocky path to the beach itself. One visitor described the access as 'windless' during early May, while another warned of 'mosquitoes eating you alive' at sunset in August. The water temperature was described as 'warm' in May, though no specific seasonal temperature data is available.Facilities and activities
No structured amenities are listed for Plaza Limuni, though the beach is explicitly recommended for 'leisure seekers' and 'travelers with dogs.' Snorkeling is the only activity formally associated with the beach. The lack of facilities means visitors should plan for self-sufficiency, though the beach's natural features provide inherent recreational value. Pet owners should use designated areas indicated by information signs, as noted in the beach's audience recommendations.Access and location
Access to Plaza Limuni requires navigating a gravel road to a car park, followed by a rocky path to the beach. The beach is located in Saplunara, a settlement on the PeljeΕ‘ac Peninsula, which offers connections to the broader Adriatic sailing network. While no specific marinas are mentioned in the catalog, the region's coastal infrastructure supports yacht charters in the Dubrovnik-Neretva area. The beach's coordinates (42.69124, 17.74256) place it near the southern Dalmatian coast, a popular sailing destination. What visitors say
Reviewers have provided mixed but informative insights. A May 2024 visitor praised the 'warm safe clean sea' and 'beautiful sand,' though noted garbage along the high tide line. An August 2020 reviewer called it 'superb' for its 'warm and shallow water' but warned of aggressive mosquitoes at sunset. Both reviews confirmed the beach's accessibility by car, though the rocky approach may pose challenges for some visitors. The 'moderate' crowd index during high season aligns with the beach's overall character as a family-friendly yet unassuming coastal spot.Practical tips
Arrive early to avoid midday crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures. Use designated pet areas as indicated by information signs. Carry waste bags to address the beach's poor cleanliness rating. For mosquito protection, consider repellent during late afternoon hours. The gravel road access works well for standard vehicles, but drivers should exercise caution on the rocky final approach.Exploring the coast by yacht
Plaza Limuni's location on the PeljeΕ‘ac Peninsula places it within a major Adriatic sailing corridor. Yacht charter guests exploring the Dubrovnik-Neretva region may find this beach a convenient stop, though no specific marinas are listed in the catalog. The smooth depth increase and sheltered cove make it a potentially appealing anchorage point for sailors seeking a natural beach experience. For formal yacht charter inquiries, Euro-Agent's Yacht Search page provides detailed availability and pricing.Seasonal Considerations
While the beach is accessible year-round, mosquito activity peaks in late summer. The gravel road may become challenging during heavy rainfall. Early May visits, as described in reviews, offer calm conditions and warmer waters.

Reviews
Loved it. Warm safe clean sea, clear, windless and easy access after a gravel road to car park. Beautiful sand and no sea urchins. We were there early May. Garbage on the beach high tide line didnβt affect us at all. Far too many positives. M
Superb place if you like the warm and shallow water and the sandy beach. At sunset it is time to leave because the mosquitos will eat you alive. A rocky road will lead you to the beach which can be used with car without problem till the end. Dubrovnik-Neretva
