Plaza Cista Beach, Croatia
Beach character
The beach's defining feature is its smooth gradient from shore to deeper water, ensuring safe swimming conditions for all ages. The seabed combines sand and pebbles, creating a textured surface that snorkelers might find interesting. While the main stretch features black sand with pebbles, the shoreline includes patches of grass, adding a unique element to the landscape. Visitor reports consistently note the beach's cleanliness, with one reviewer describing it as 'crystal clear' and 'very clean.' The area is notably busy during peak season, though the absence of official facilities means visitors should plan accordingly for amenities.Swimming and shore
The beach's depth increases gradually, making it ideal for swimmers of all abilities. The mixed seabed of sand and pebbles provides a stable surface for standing, though snorkelers may encounter occasional rocky patches. Water clarity is frequently praised in reviews, with one visitor noting the 'clear' conditions. The shore includes both sandy and grassy areas, though the latter is limited to specific sections. The beach's orientation along the mainland offers shelter from direct winds, though open water conditions should be checked before swimming.Facilities and activities
Official amenities are minimal, but visitor experiences highlight nearby dining options. One report mentions a restaurant and bar directly on the beach, though fees for card payments and sunbed rentals have been noted. Snorkeling is explicitly listed as an available activity, and water entertainment options are available. The beach allows pets, with designated areas indicated by information signs. No official parking, showers, or restrooms are listed in the catalog, so visitors should assume basic facilities only.Access and location
Plaza Cista is located in Kolan, a coastal settlement on Pag Island's mainland. The beach is accessible via road from Novalja, the island's primary town, and is part of the broader Pag coastline known for its long, unbroken beaches. Its position on the mainland makes it a convenient stop for those exploring the island's northern shore, with easy connections to the Adriatic Sea's sailing routes. The coordinates (44.52079, 14.94648) place it near the island's eastern tip, close to the salt pans and the village of Luka. What visitors say
Reviewers consistently highlight the beach's cleanliness and family-friendliness. Daniela Sabalić called it 'the best beach on Pag,' while Lucia Pilarčík Gažovičová noted its suitability for families with children of all ages. One visitor praised the 'clear' water and 'very clean' conditions, though others mentioned specific concerns: Martin reported a restaurant with 'great food' but noted an unexpected 5€ card fee, and Novice warned about a 45€ sunbed charge for the day. The beach's popularity is evident, with one reviewer stating they 'have to spend at least one day here' every visit.Practical tips
Be aware of potential additional fees at on-site dining facilities, as noted in visitor reports. Sunbed rentals appear to be a significant cost (45€/day), so consider bringing your own beach gear if possible. The beach's grassy areas are limited, so expect primarily sandy and pebbled shorelines. Check for information signs regarding pet-friendly zones, as the beach allows dogs but requires adherence to designated areas.Exploring the coast by yacht
For yacht charter guests, Plaza Cista's position on Pag Island offers convenient access to the Adriatic's sailing routes. The island's proximity to the mainland and its well-maintained coastline make it a popular stop for motor yachts and sailboats exploring the northern Dalmatian coast. Nearby anchorages and marinas on Pag and the mainland provide options for refueling and overnight stays, though specific distances or facilities should be confirmed through Euro-Agent's Yacht Search page.Local Context and Surrounding Area
Pag Island's mainland is characterized by its arid landscapes and salt pans, creating a unique contrast to the coastal beaches. The village of Kolan, where Plaza Cista is located, is known for its traditional architecture and proximity to the island's salt production facilities. Visitors may also explore Novalja, a nearby town with a vibrant nightlife and cultural attractions, though the beach itself maintains a more relaxed atmosphere.Anchorages in the surrounding area

The beach itself it’s very beautiful but be aware at the restaurant if you pay by card they extra charge you 5 euro just like a small tip without asking even!! Too bad because the food is good…the sun beads on top are 45 euro for the whole day and if you and a shower that will be 1 euro for 30 seconds of 💦😅 Lika-Senj
