Plaza Cavtat Beach, Croatia
Plaza Cavtat Beach stretches along the southern coast of Cavtat, Croatia, offering a 110-meter shoreline of gray pebbles framed by mountainous terrain. The beach's natural topography creates a sheltered environment with moderate depth increase, making it accessible for swimmers while retaining a sense of seclusion. Its proximity to Cavtat's historic town and the Dubrovnik Riviera positions it as a convenient base for exploring the region's cultural and maritime attractions.
Beach character
The beach's surface is predominantly composed of gray pebbles, a characteristic shared with other pebbled shores in the Cavtat area. Natural shade from adjacent hills provides relief during peak sunlight hours, though the lack of artificial umbrellas or shelters means visitors should bring their own sun protection. The sea floor extends gradually into pebbles, with no sharp depth changes reported. Reviewers have noted the beach's appeal to families, though the rocky shoreline requires caution—particularly near the water's edge where slippery conditions have led to falls.
Swimming and shore
The pebbled shore allows for direct water access, though the surface may be uncomfortable for barefoot swimmers. Snorkeling is a popular activity, with reviewers describing clear waters and marine life visibility. Kayaking is available through local operators, and the beach's location near the Cavtat promenade offers opportunities for coastal exploration. The beach's moderate depth profile suits both casual swimmers and those seeking to venture further into the Adriatic.
Facilities and activities
While no formal amenities are listed, visitor reports indicate the availability of rental beds and parasols near the shore. The beach's proximity to Cavtat's town center ensures access to dining and retail options. Water taxis operate between Cavtat and Dubrovnik, and the No. 10 bus route from Dubrovnik provides a scenic connection via the promenade. Snorkeling, kayaking, and water entertainment are explicitly noted as activities, with some reviewers observing snorkelers in the shallows during their visits.
Access and location
Plaza Cavtat Beach is accessible via the No. 10 bus route from Dubrovnik, which terminates at the cable car station near the promenade. The journey takes 30-40 minutes, with the promenade walk offering panoramic views of the bay and the marina. The beach lies within Cavtat's urban fabric, adjacent to Ulica Jurja Klovića, and is part of the broader Dubrovnik-Neretva region. Its location makes it a convenient stop for yacht charter guests exploring the eastern Adriatic coast.
What visitors say
Reviewers consistently highlight the beach's scenic value and accessibility. One visitor praised the 'amazing hidden places' discoverable through walking the promenade, while another noted the 'chilled vibes' and clear waters. However, multiple reports caution about the slippery pebbles near the shore, with one reviewer describing a fall that resulted in a head injury. The beach is described as 'not crowded' in some accounts, though its 'busy' high-season status aligns with its family-friendly reputation.

Reviews
Really nice place where you can rent beds and parasols and swim. But please be careful of the rocks near the sea; it's incredibly slippery! I saw somebody fall on the back of their head. So please watch your step or wear water shoes!
I adored this little town. I walked a lot and discovered amazing hidden places all around.
Lovely bay to visit using the no. 10 bus from Dubrovnik. Bus stop is at the cable car station. Journey took 30-40 mins on bus. Lovely walk along the coastline promenade around the headland rewarding ourselves with a Croatian beer at one of the many bars/cafes facing the impressive marina.
Pebbled Beach around the hotels in the Cavtat area. It is gorgeous and has so many amenities and restaurants. You can also take the water taxi to Dubrovnik. It is not crowded which is great!
Beautiful place for an afternoon swim and ice cream. Sea was clear and warm. Lot’s of people were snorkelling. Chilled vibes. Will definitely be back! Dubrovnik-Neretva
