Plaza Borje Beach, Croatia
Plaza Borje is a secluded pebble beach located in the Orebić municipality on the Pelješac Peninsula, Croatia. This 200-meter-long shore is characterized by small beige pebbles and dramatic mountainous terrain, offering a tranquil escape from busier coastal areas. While the beach's natural features present some navigational challenges for visitors, its relative obscurity ensures a peaceful atmosphere during peak season.
Beach character
The beach's landscape is defined by steep cliffs and mountainous terrain, creating a striking contrast with the Adriatic Sea. The seabed is composed of large boulders, which may pose challenges for swimmers but create ideal conditions for snorkeling. The shoreline's sharp depth increase near the shore means caution is advised for young children, though the beach remains recommended for leisure activities. The pebble composition provides a unique tactile experience compared to sandy beaches in the region.
Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Plaza Borje are characterized by a sudden depth increase within 1-2 meters of the shore, making it unsuitable for very young children without supervision. The clear waters reveal a diverse underwater landscape with rocky formations and marine life, making it a popular spot for snorkeling. The beach's orientation and natural topography create sheltered conditions during calm weather, though visitors should be aware of potential wave action during stronger winds.
Facilities and activities
No permanent facilities are available at Plaza Borje. Visitors should bring their own shade solutions, as natural shade is limited. The beach is officially designated for diving and snorkeling activities, with the rocky seabed providing excellent visibility for underwater exploration. The surrounding cliffs and mountainous terrain offer opportunities for hiking and panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea and Korčula Island.
Access and location
Access to Plaza Borje requires a 300-500 meter walk from a parking area near the church in the nearby settlement. The path follows a concrete sidewalk downhill to the beach. Visitors should use the designated route to avoid getting lost in the surrounding fields. The beach is located on the Pelješac Peninsula, with the nearest major town being Orebić, approximately 8 kilometers inland. The coastal road provides access to nearby marinas and sailing areas.
What visitors say
Reviewers consistently highlight the beach's tranquility and natural beauty, with several noting it as one of the most peaceful beaches on the Pelješac Peninsula. One visitor described it as 'the coolest beach visited on Peleješac,' emphasizing the 'dream' quality of the water and 'rich fauna and flora.' Multiple reviews confirm the beach's relative obscurity, with one noting 'no crowds here.' However, visitors should be prepared for the challenging access route, with several reviewers mentioning the need for sturdy shoes to navigate the rocky shoreline and the steep path from the parking area.
Practical tips
Bring sturdy footwear for the rocky shoreline and steep access path. Consider bringing your own shade solution, as natural shade is limited. Use the designated concrete path from the church parking area to avoid getting lost in the surrounding fields. Snorkeling equipment is recommended for exploring the rocky seabed, though no rentals are available on-site. Be mindful of the sudden depth increase near the shore when swimming with young children.

Reviews
The coolest beach visited on Peleješac. It's quite difficult to get here, but if you do, it's an unforgettable experience... We park right next to the church and walk down the concrete sidewalk. About 300 m downhill and we are there... Water - a dream!... Really cool! It's really not sausage water... Refreshment guaranteed. Rich fauna and flora as well as extremely beautiful, very diverse bottom shapes will satisfy everyone... The beach is quite little known, so there are no crowds here... :-)
Great, quiet beach with few people. Parking is best at the church and then down the concrete path directly to the beach (approx. 500 meters).
The beach itself is amazing but the way to get there?? You need to park by the church and go between the houses - there you will find little concrete path that will lead you to the beach. DO NOT TRY TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT ON THE PATH. we got lost like that somewhere in the fields. Anyway the beach is nice and quiet with just a couple of people. Great for snorkeling. Bring shoes for the water since there are sharp rocks with sealife on them.
Nice beach, but to get there, there is a long steep walk with stairs to get to the beach. But if you like to enjoy some peace it’s worth it. Bring your own shade, there is almost no natural shade.
It such a very good place if you want to be on your own far from other people and the crowd. And also you can enjoy the great view. You have a nice panorama to the mountain Sveti Ilija and to Korčula Island. As to say two bad things are that the water deepens suddenly and you can reach the area just by a bit long walk. But I enjoyed it! Dubrovnik-Neretva
