Plaza Bijacka Kastel Beach, Croatia
Beach character
The beach’s pebble composition defines its character, with smooth beige stones forming the primary surface. Beneath the waves, large boulders create a textured seabed, which may pose challenges for swimmers unfamiliar with the underwater topography. The beach’s moderate depth increase ensures gradual transitions into deeper water, though caution is advised for those unaccustomed to rocky substrates. The surrounding landscape offers panoramic views of the Adriatic, with mountain ridges providing a dramatic backdrop.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions are influenced by the rocky seabed, which can make navigation difficult for inexperienced swimmers. The beach’s moderate depth gradient allows for safe wading, though the presence of boulders may limit areas suitable for young children. The shore itself is relatively flat, with the pebble surface offering a stable base for sunbathing. The beach’s orientation provides natural shade from trees near the parking area, though direct sunlight dominates much of the shoreline.Facilities and activities
While no formal amenities are listed in the beach’s authoritative features, visitor reports note the presence of showers, changing cabins, and nearby cafes. Water sports dominate the activity offerings, with windsurfing, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, jetski, and general water entertainment available. The beach’s proximity to Kaštela and Split means additional services are accessible within short distances, including restaurants and retail options.Access and location
The beach is located at Mije Gunjala 3, Kaštela, with free parking available near the school adjacent to the shoreline. The area is well-connected to Split via road, with the town’s marinas and cultural sites within a 20-minute drive. The beach’s position along the coast makes it a convenient stop for visitors exploring the Split-Dalmatia region, with ferry routes and coastal roads facilitating further travel. What visitors say
Visitors frequently highlight the beach’s uncrowded atmosphere during off-peak seasons, with one reviewer noting, "There are trees so you can get some shade... It's not crowded." Others praise the availability of cafes and ice cream stands, with one describing it as "a beautiful and still uncrowded beach where you can find a place for your towel." However, recurring mentions of the beach’s "very poor" cleanliness index suggest visitors should manage expectations regarding sanitation and maintenance.
