Pisak Beach, Croatia
Beach character
The beach consists of multiple coves, with the primary section measuring 340 meters in length and 10 meters in width. The seabed is composed of very fine pebbles, and depth increases gradually—suitable for children and non-swimmers. The landscape features dramatic mountain vistas, with the Dinara range visible in the distance. The beach's natural composition includes small beige pebbles as the predominant surface, though some areas may have exposed rock formations.Swimming and shore
The smooth depth increase makes Pisak Beach particularly safe for families, with water depths reaching suitable levels quickly. The pebble substrate provides stable footing for swimmers, though the surface may be uneven in some areas. The beach's sheltered position reduces wave intensity, creating calmer conditions compared to more exposed Adriatic shores. Snorkeling is a notable activity, with clear waters revealing underwater topography.Facilities and activities
Facilities are minimal but include showers and a nearby bar/store offering ice cream for children and beverages for adults, as reported by visitors. The beach itself lacks permanent infrastructure, reflecting its natural character. Snorkeling is explicitly listed as an available activity, though no rental equipment is mentioned in the catalog. The surrounding village of Pisak has limited dining options, with reviews noting a few restaurants and cafes.Access and location
Located at Zapadnaulica 14A, Pisak, the beach is accessible via local roads connecting to the village. The settlement is positioned between Omis and Makarska, with narrow streets requiring careful navigation. The beach's proximity to the village means visitors can combine swimming with brief explorations of the small community, though the village lacks a traditional Croatian downtown atmosphere with historic architecture. What visitors say
Visitors consistently note the beach's cleanliness and scenic quality, with several reviewers describing it as 'exceptional' during off-peak seasons. One visitor emphasized the 'clear water and smooth depth increase,' while another highlighted the 'beautiful views of the mountains.' However, multiple reviews mention the beach becomes 'packed' during high season, with one noting the need for 'care with non-swimmers due to rapid depth changes.' The presence of a bar/store with family-friendly offerings is a recurring visitor observation.
Practical tips
Arrive early during peak season to avoid crowds. The smooth depth transition makes it safe for children, but supervision is recommended near the shore. The pebble surface may be uncomfortable for barefoot walkers; consider bringing beach shoes. The village's limited infrastructure means visitors should plan for basic amenities only.
Exploring the coast by yacht
The surrounding area offers sailing opportunities in the broader Split-Dalmatia region, with nearby anchorages and marinas accessible via the Adriatic coastline. While Pisak Beach itself is not a designated anchorage, the nearby coastal routes between Omis and Makarska provide sailing options for charter guests exploring the region. The mountainous terrain creates sheltered bays that may interest sailors seeking protected waters.
Geographical Context
Pisak's location between Omis and Makarska places it within a region known for its dramatic coastal cliffs and historical sites. The village's isolation contributes to its quieter character compared to more tourist-heavy areas of the Dalmatian coast. The nearby Omis canyon and the Pelješac Peninsula offer additional points of interest for visitors combining beach visits with land-based exploration.

Reviews
Just great. Before high season. Clean, great to swimm.
Lovely beach under a sleeping vilage. A Little crowded in high season. The water is clear and it gets deep really fast, so take care of nonswimmers. There are showers and a bar and store with icecream for children. And a beer for dads!
Great beach. Can be crowded during tourist season. Beautiful views.
A small settlement. It has no direct connection with another settlement. Nice, quiet little village. There are few restaurants and cafes. There is no real Croatian downtown atmosphere, as new buildings are only found here. It is located halfway between Omis and Makarska. The streets of the small village are very narrow, so you need an experienced driver to get around.
Beautiful little village with very nice beach below Omiska Dinara mountain. Split-Dalmatia
