Otok Sipan Beach – Lopud, Croatia
Beach character
The beach’s defining feature is its cove shape, which creates a natural shelter from the open sea. The shoreline is composed of gray sand interspersed with medium-sized pebbles, a characteristic common to many Adriatic coasts. The sea floor slopes gently into the water, with a moderate depth increase that supports safe swimming. The surrounding landscape is marked by low hills and scattered pine trees, offering a contrast to the more rugged terrain of nearby islands. The beach’s orientation and sheltered position make it a popular spot for sunbathing and casual water activities, though its size limits large gatherings.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Otok Sipan are generally favorable, with calm waters and a sandy seabed that extends several meters from shore. The moderate depth increase ensures that the beach is accessible to swimmers of all ages, though the pebble section may require caution. The shore itself is relatively flat, with minimal elevation changes. Water entertainment options, such as paddleboarding or kayaking, are available nearby, though the beach does not offer rental equipment or dedicated facilities for these activities.Facilities and activities
The beach lacks formal amenities such as showers, restrooms, or umbrellas. However, visitors can enjoy beach volleyball, a structured activity available on the sand. Water entertainment options, including snorkeling and boat tours, are accessible through nearby marinas and tour operators. The absence of commercial infrastructure means the beach retains a rustic character, appealing to those seeking a more natural setting.Access and location
Otok Sipan is located on the island of Lopud, approximately 7 kilometers northeast of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Access requires a boat or ferry, as there are no direct road connections to the island. Lopud itself is a short sailing distance from the Elafiti Islands and the mainland, making it a common stop for yacht charters exploring the southern Adriatic. The beach’s proximity to Lopud’s vineyards and historic sites, such as the Church of St. Nicholas, adds to its appeal for visitors combining beach relaxation with cultural exploration. What visitors say
Visitors have shared varied experiences of Otok Sipan. One reviewer highlighted the island’s charm, calling it a "perfect day" for families and noting the "beautiful trees" and "ruins sprinkled about." Others praised the natural beauty but suggested improvements, with one commenting that the park (likely referring to nearby green spaces) "could do with a touch of TLC." A recurring theme is the beach’s tranquility, though its high season busyness is acknowledged. Some noted the lack of modern amenities, with one visitor suggesting "modern refurbishment" for the area.Practical tips
Given the beach’s rustic nature, visitors may want to bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. The absence of formal facilities means relying on personal items for comfort. Those interested in exploring Lopud’s vineyards or historical sites should plan additional time for land-based activities.Exploring the coast by yacht

Reviews
Beautiful little park to wander in. Fun to find little half collapsed one room mini castle and other ruins sprinkled about the beautiful trees.
Highly recommend this day trip. It was the highlight of our amazing holiday in Cavtat and Dubrovnik. Would recommend to everyone, our 15yr boy, 6yr boy, and 7yr girl love the day as much as the adults did. Perfect day.
Not a great deal there, but what was, was good. Someone looks after it even if they don't plant anything new.
A charming island, to be sure, but the park itself could do with a touch of TLC. The nature is lovely, but a bit haphazard. A landscape designer could surely transform this into a more inviting green space. And as for the paths, well, a bit of attention to those wouldn’t go miss, otherwise after a careful walk along them you want to wash your feet from the dust.
13.000 square meters park Very nice love story as a reason of establishment Could use some modern refurbishment Some gigantic pine trees inside the park Nice retreat from daily sun Dubrovnik-Neretva
