Mali Portic Beach - Premantura, Croatia
Beach character
Mali Portic is a compact cove measuring approximately 20 meters wide and 10 meters deep, with a shoreline composed of black sand and pebbles. The beach is naturally shaded by surrounding hills, creating a cool respite during the day. The seabed is covered in standard-grain sand, with a gradual and smooth increase in depth that makes it safe for children and less confident swimmers. The beach's orientation and protective geography create a microclimate that buffers against strong winds, though visitors should remain aware of seasonal boat traffic in the area.Swimming and shore
The beach's shallow, gradual slope ensures safe swimming conditions for all ages, with water clarity often described as exceptional. Snorkeling is popular here, with reviews noting abundant marine life visible just offshore. Kayaking is also a common activity, with the calm waters providing ideal conditions for paddling. The beach's natural contours create a sheltered environment, though swimmers should be mindful of occasional boat traffic from nearby yacht anchorages, as noted by some visitors.Facilities and activities
While no formal amenities are listed in official records, visitor accounts describe a nearby cocktail bar at the peak of the Kamenjak peninsula, accessible via a short walk. This bar, known locally as the 'Safari bar,' offers a vantage point over the bay and is a popular spot for sunset drinks. Activities include snorkeling, kayaking, and exploring the surrounding nature trails. The beach is pet-friendly, with designated areas marked by information signs, though showers or restrooms are not available on-site.Access and location
Reaching Mali Portic requires navigating the Kamenjak peninsula, where visitors report a 15€ entrance fee per vehicle (payable at the 'entrance 2' checkpoint or online). The road to the beach is described as dusty and bumpy, requiring careful driving. Parking is available along the bay, though visitors are advised to be creative in finding spaces. The beach is located within the broader Kamenjak Nature Park, a protected area known for its biodiversity and scenic coastal routes. What visitors say
Reviewers consistently praise Mali Portic's natural beauty and tranquility, with multiple accounts describing the water as 'beautifully turquoise' and 'full of fish.' One visitor highlighted the presence of a swing near the shore for playful dips, while another noted the beach's accessibility for families with young children. However, several reviews mention the absence of showers and the need for protective footwear on the pebbled shoreline. Reviews
If you're looking for a place to relax and unwind without many people around, this is the place for you
Amazing place few steps from free parking! Protected from the sun, with easy-to-climb bank where there is plenty of places to sit. Protective footwear necessary. You will find even the swing for funny jumping into the beautifully turquoise water! Only thing I am missing is shower.
We entered the cape Kamenjak at “entrance 2”. (You pay a fee of 15€ per car at the entrance or online). Then get ready for a bumpy and very dusty car ride down a macadam road. When you get to the desired bay, you park wherever you find place (be creative). Mali Portic is a lovely natural sand bay with a cocktail beach bar and lots of shade! Clear water and nature😍
Very nice bay to anchor your boat being protected from W, S & N winds. A short walk to a nearby legendary “Safari bar” at the peak of Kamenjak peninsula.
Amazing spot, If you walk just a bit you can find a spot near the sea with also shadow. The water is really amazing and full of fishes. The only problem is the presence of the boats: pay attention when you swim Istria
