Lucisca Bay Beach, Croatia
Beach character
Lucisca Bay is a narrow cove measuring approximately 50 meters wide and 10 meters deep, framed by rugged cliffs and mountainous landscapes. The beach surface consists of small beige pebbles, creating a natural contrast against the azure sea. The area’s geological features contribute to the clarity of the water, which visitors frequently describe as 'crystal-clear.' The surrounding terrain offers dramatic vistas, with hiking trails leading to viewpoints that provide sweeping panoramas of the bay and the island of Hvar. The beach’s natural setting is enhanced by its isolation, which reviewers note as a key factor in its peaceful character.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Lucisca Bay are generally favorable, with the sea floor composed of small pebbles that slope gently into the water. Depth increases moderately, making it suitable for both swimmers and snorkelers. The clarity of the water, frequently praised in reviews, allows for excellent visibility underwater, supporting activities like snorkeling and exploring marine life. The beach’s sheltered cove provides a calmer swimming experience compared to more exposed shores, though wave activity may vary with weather conditions. The absence of structured amenities means visitors should bring their own equipment for water activities.Facilities and activities
Lucisca Bay lacks formal facilities such as showers, restrooms, or changing rooms. However, visitor reviews mention a nearby bar on the beach that operates seasonally and a cafe located halfway down the trail to the bay, offering a scenic spot for refreshments. The beach is associated with kayaking, surfing, and snorkeling, activities that align with its natural terrain and water conditions. One review notes a freshwater spring beneath the water, though this feature is not explicitly confirmed in the beach’s authoritative features. The absence of structured amenities means visitors should plan accordingly for their needs.Access and location
Access to Lucisca Bay requires navigating a steep, rocky road from Sveta Nedelja. Reviews indicate that parking is available at the Gego restaurant, but visitors must confirm availability directly with the establishment. Rental cars may struggle with the road’s gradient, and some reviewers recommend using a four-wheel-drive vehicle or an SUV for easier access. The beach is located on the island of Hvar, part of Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, and is surrounded by the broader sailing region of the Adriatic Sea. Its remote location contributes to its seclusion but necessitates careful travel planning. What visitors say
Visitors consistently highlight Lucisca Bay’s natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. Multiple reviews describe the beach as 'stunning' and 'a hidden gem,' with particular praise for the clarity of the water and the panoramic mountain views. One reviewer noted, 'The beach is absolutely clean, and the view up to the mountains is marvelous.' However, challenges such as the steep road and limited parking are frequently mentioned. As one visitor wrote, 'Parking is available at the Gego restaurant, but you have to check with them if you can park there.' In high season, the beach becomes 'packed,' though off-peak visits often enjoy greater solitude.Practical tips
Arrive early in the summer season to avoid crowds and secure parking at the Gego restaurant. Bring an umbrella for shade, as the beach lacks structured shade facilities. Carry trash with you to maintain the beach’s cleanliness, as noted by reviewers. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for the steep road to the beach, and confirm parking availability in advance. The nearby cafe and seasonal bar offer opportunities for refreshments but should not be relied upon for essential services.Exploring the coast by yacht
Lucisca Bay’s location on the island of Hvar places it within a popular sailing region of the Adriatic Sea. Yacht charter guests exploring the Dalmatian coast may find the surrounding waters appealing for their clarity and scenic routes. While the beach itself is not an anchorage or marina, its proximity to Hvar’s coastal routes makes it a potential stop for sailors seeking secluded spots. The area’s natural beauty and accessibility via the Adriatic’s sailing lanes could interest charter guests looking to combine beach visits with coastal exploration.A Hidden Natural Feature
One reviewer noted the presence of a freshwater spring beneath the water near the beach, though this detail is not confirmed in the beach’s official features. This natural phenomenon may contribute to the area’s ecological significance and the clarity of the water.Anchorages in the surrounding area

Here is an absolute gem! The beach is stunning with crystal-clear waters and a peaceful, secluded vibe. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but that’s what makes it so special—no crowds, just pure relaxation in nature. The views are breathtaking, and the surrounding area is perfect for a peaceful getaway. Definitely worth the visit if you’re on Hvar Island!
It was worth it! hiking in the noon seems like peace of cake compared to the beach, clear sea, and the scenery. It's my favourite beach on the island of Hvar . There is a cute cafe on the halfway downhill with a gorgeous view and comfortable position.
Very pretty beach, hard access, very steep road, so be careful. Parking is available at the Gego restaurant parking, but you have to check with them if you can park there.
One of the most beautiful natural Beaches on Hvar. The water is Cristal clear, the beach absolutely clean the the view up to the mountains marvelous. We recommend to come early in the summer season because of limited places and to take an umbrella with you. The beach Bar nearby makes it perfect the whole day with cold drinks. Take your trash with you and keep the place clean for next visitors. We come again. It's a great place. It's 100% holiday
Very nice beach with a freshwater spring underneath the water. Easily one of the top beaches on Hvar. It’s beautiful for photos in the way down and gorgeous when swimming in the water and viewing it. The beach and the mountains behind it make for an amazing and peaceful retreat if you are lucky enough to discover this beach when it is not crowded. This beach is located on a rocky road that is inaccessible with rental cars but if you have a four wheeler or an SUV make sure to visit this beach. It’s a bit of a hike down hill but well worth it. The road to the beach is also very scenic and will leave you breathless. There is also a bar on the beach that seemed to be closed when we visited in September but the beach was also completely empty. This was a positive for us but in high season I’d imagine this beach is busier and the bar is likely operating. Split-Dalmatia
