Lozica Beach, Croatia
Beach character
Lozica Beach is defined by its stark natural features. The shoreline consists of gray pebbles, with boulders forming the sea floor that create a sharp depth increase near the shore. This topography, while challenging for barefoot swimming, creates ideal conditions for snorkeling due to the presence of sea urchins and marine life. The beach is flanked by mountainous terrain, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Its modest size and lack of formal amenities contribute to its tranquil atmosphere, though visitors should note the absence of sunbeds, parasols, or commercial facilities. The beach's character is further shaped by its accessibility: a short flight of stairs leads from the road to the shore, with a tunnel required to cross the highway.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Lozica Beach are influenced by its pebbly shore and depth profile. While the water is described as clean and calm by some visitors, others note that temperatures can be cool, particularly in early spring. The sharp depth increase near the shore means swimmers should exercise caution, especially with children. Snorkeling is a standout activity here, with the rocky seabed attracting marine life. However, the presence of sea urchins necessitates careful navigation. The beach lacks designated swimming areas or lifeguards, making it more suitable for confident swimmers and snorkelers than for those seeking structured aquatic activities.Facilities and activities
Facilities at Lozica Beach are minimal but functional. A free shower is available, though no toilets, changing rooms, or commercial concessions are present. The beach's unpretentious nature means it lacks sunbeds, parasols, or restaurants, making it an ideal spot for those seeking solitude. The primary activity is snorkeling, with the rocky seabed creating a natural underwater playground. Visitors should bring their own equipment, as no rentals are available on-site. The beach's proximity to Dubrovnik means it serves as a convenient base for exploring the city's landmarks, though it is not connected to any marinas or yacht facilities.Access and location
Access to Lozica Beach requires navigating a short flight of stairs from the road, with a tunnel crossing the highway needed to reach the shore. Parking is available nearby, though some visitors note the need for a car due to the lack of public transport options. The beach lies approximately 11 kilometers northeast of Dubrovnik's Old Town, placing it within easy reach of the city's UNESCO-listed sites. Its location on the PeljeΕ‘ac Peninsula positions it as a gateway to the broader Adriatic sailing routes, with nearby anchorages and marinas accessible via short boat trips. What visitors say
Visitors consistently highlight Lozica Beach's peaceful atmosphere and scenic beauty. One reviewer noted, "Itβs a bit hard to get there without a car, but the place is very peaceful, visited by locals mostly." Another praised the free shower and the beach's "great for families with kids" character. Snorkeling opportunities are frequently mentioned, with one visitor describing the sea urchins as a "great feature for snorkeling." However, some note the pebbles can be uncomfortable for barefoot walking and the lack of shade beyond natural rock formations. Evening visits bring a different character, with older locals gathering on the shore.Practical tips
Bring sturdy shoes for the pebbly shore and consider wearing a wetsuit for snorkeling due to cooler water temperatures. Arrive early to avoid crowds in the evening, and be mindful of sea urchins when exploring the seabed. The lack of formal amenities means visitors should bring their own towels, snacks, and sun protection.Exploring the coast by yacht
For yacht charter guests, Lozica Beach's proximity to Dubrovnik makes it a convenient stop along the Adriatic coast. The surrounding waters, with their rocky seabeds and clear visibility, are ideal for snorkeling excursions. Nearby anchorages and marinas, such as those in Cavtat and Dubrovnik itself, provide options for docking or mooring. The beach's location on the PeljeΕ‘ac Peninsula also places it near sailing routes to the Elafiti Islands and the Bay of Kotor, though specific yacht facilities at the beach itself are limited.Dubrovnik's Coastal Appeal
The beach's location near Dubrovnik offers dual access to the city's medieval architecture and the Adriatic's natural beauty. Visitors can explore the city's fortifications, Rector's Palace, and Lokrum Island before relaxing at Lozica Beach. The nearby village of Sveti Petar provides additional amenities, including restaurants and boat tours.

Itβs a bit hard to get there, if youβre coming without a car. But the place is very peaceful, visited by locals mostly. Thereβs a free shower. You have to take a little βtunnelβ downstairs to cross the highway, then youβll reach the beach.
Great beach with good shade and free shower !! Less crowded during the day but in the evening old people come. But a fun and beautiful beach. Enjoy :))
The Lozica beach is one of the nicest beaches outside of the city. It is calm, has clean water. The beach is not prepared professionally, so there are stones/rocks and many sea urchins. This also makes this beach great for snorkeling! Else, the beach is offering as much sun as it offers shade. Great for people of any age. Access to the beach is only a few stair steps from the street, the steps are wide, there are even multiple stairs, one from either side of the street. Parking situation is also pretty good. No restaurant/bar/sunbeds/parasols at the beach, great for relaxing away from the mainstream! Dubrovnik-Neretva
