Kavala Beach, Orebić, Croatia
Beach character
Kavala Beach spans approximately 30 meters in width and 20 meters in length, forming a narrow cove protected by cliffs and mountainous terrain. The shoreline is predominantly covered in white pebbles, with natural shade provided by the surrounding landscape. The seabed consists of large boulders, creating a rugged underwater environment that may not be suitable for all swimmers. Depth increases gradually, with no sharp drops reported.Swimming and shore
Entry into the water is facilitated via a ladder, as noted by visitors. The sea floor's boulders create a challenging environment for wading, making it more suitable for experienced swimmers or those using dive gear. The water is described as 'refreshing,' with cooler currents flowing from underground mountain sources, adding to the area's unique hydrological character.Facilities and activities
There are no official amenities at Kavala Beach, though visitors may find limited parking near a small church located about 7 minutes' walk away. The beach is associated with two primary activities: diving and snorkeling, likely due to the boulder-strewn seabed and underwater currents. No lifeguards, showers, or toilets are reported in the beach's authoritative features.Access and location
The beach is accessible via a stony path from a small church in Orebić. A few parking spaces are available near the church, though the trail to the beach is described as 'stony but doable.' Visitors with small children may find the path challenging due to its uneven surface. What visitors say
One reviewer noted the beach's 'quiet, secluded' atmosphere and 'idyllic' setting, though they highlighted litter as a recurring issue along the Croatian coast. The entry ladder and cool underwater currents were also mentioned as notable features. The path from the church was described as 'stony but doable,' though less suitable for young children.Practical tips
Bring sturdy footwear for the stony path to the beach. A towel may be useful on the pebble-covered shore. Be prepared for cooler water temperatures, particularly near the underwater currents. Litter is a reported issue, so consider bringing reusable bags for waste.Exploring the coast by yacht

Reviews
Quiet, secluded, small pebble beach. Unfortunately there is a bit too much rubbish lying around (a problem all over Croatia). Apart from that, very idyllic. Good entry into the water via a ladder. Reachable from the small church (a few parking spaces) in about 7 minutes on foot. Stony but doable path, but rather unsuitable with small children. The water is also quite refreshing (especially on the surface). Apparently cool water flows underground from the mountains into the sea.
