Kale Beach - Šišan, Croatia
Beach character
The beach’s primary surface consists of gray sand mixed with medium-sized pebbles, creating a textured yet stable shoreline. The seabed mirrors this composition, with a mix of sand and pebbles that extends into the water. Natural shade is available from the adjacent cliffs, offering respite from the sun. While the beach is recommended for families, visitors should note its 'moderate' crowd index during peak season and the 'poor' cleanliness rating reported in some assessments.Swimming and shore
The smooth depth increase from the shore makes Kale Beach ideal for swimmers of all abilities, particularly those with limited swimming experience. The shallow, sandy seabed extends comfortably for children’s play, while the slightly deeper sections beyond the pebble zone are suitable for snorkeling and diving. The mixed sea floor texture may present minor challenges for barefoot swimmers, though the area remains generally safe for recreational use.Facilities and activities
While no formal amenities are listed for Kale Beach, visitor reports highlight the availability of nearby parking spaces, though access requires traversing a gravel road described as 'dusty' by some guests. The beach supports a range of activities including diving, snorkeling, cliff diving, hiking, and cycling. The rugged terrain surrounding the beach makes it a destination for hikers and cyclists seeking off-road trails, though the lack of dedicated pathways means visitors should prepare for uneven surfaces.Access and location
Located at Ulica Tromba Giuseppe 68b in Šišan, Kale Beach is accessible via a gravel road that leads to a 'wild car parking' area near the shore. The journey to the beach involves walking over rough terrain, which several visitors have noted requires sturdy footwear. Its position in Šišan places it within reach of the broader Istrian coast, with connections to nearby settlements via road networks that serve the region’s tourism infrastructure. What visitors say
Reviewers consistently praise Kale Beach’s clear waters and natural setting, with one describing it as 'heaven on earth' and another calling it 'one of the most amazing beaches in Pula.' Multiple visitors highlight the availability of shade and sufficient parking space, though the gravel road’s condition is frequently mentioned as a drawback. One guest noted the need for 'beach shoes' due to the rocky approach, while another emphasized the beach’s 'very clean water' and 'not too crowded' atmosphere during their visit.Practical tips
Bring sturdy footwear for the gravel road and consider beach shoes for the pebble-covered shoreline. Arrive early to secure parking in the informal lot near the beach. Be mindful of the beach’s 'poor' cleanliness rating during peak season and bring necessary supplies for a day at the shore.Exploring the coast by yacht

Reviews
A great place to swim and relax at the bar/ restaurant. Some good shade too and enough place to park. We loved this beach. You do need beach shoes.
One of the most amazing beaches in Pula with clear water ideal for swimming and surf paddling. sinisa
Great beach, very clean water and not too crowded. Few meters of shores there is a sand, so it is great for swimming and snorkeling. Only downside to this beach is access road, covered with gravel so trip on it is quit dusty. Next to the beach is wild car parking, plenty space for every car.
Sandy bottom and rocky cliffs, heaven on earth 🏖️
