Jure Medvidina Beach: A Hidden Cove in Zastražišće, Croatia
Beach character
The beach spans approximately 30 meters in length and 10 meters in width, forming a sheltered cove that opens to the Adriatic Sea. Its pebbly composition creates a firm surface for walking, while the sea floor slopes gently into deeper waters. The surrounding landscape is dominated by rugged hills, offering panoramic views of the coastline. Depth increases gradually, making it suitable for swimmers and snorkelers seeking a mix of shallow and open-water exploration.Swimming and shore
The beach's pebbly shore provides a stable base for entering the water, though it may be less comfortable for those preferring soft sand. Swimming conditions are generally calm, with moderate depth progression allowing both casual swimmers and more experienced adventurers to find suitable areas. Snorkeling is popular here, with clear waters revealing marine life near the shore. The beach's cove formation also makes it a favorable spot for surfing, though wave consistency may vary with seasonal winds.Facilities and activities
No permanent facilities are listed for Jure Medvidina Beach, aligning with its character as a natural, low-impact destination. However, visitors can engage in kayaking, surfing, and snorkeling directly from the shore. The absence of on-site amenities means travelers should plan to bring food and supplies, as noted by some visitors. The beach's remote location emphasizes its appeal to those seeking solitude and a connection to the natural environment.Access and location
Jure Medvidina Beach is located in the village of Zastražišće, part of the Split-Dalmatia region in Croatia. Its precise coordinates (43.11792, 16.89462) place it along a less-traveled stretch of the Adriatic coast. Access is via local roads leading to Zastražišće, with the beach situated near the village's eastern edge. The area is part of a broader network of coastal settlements that cater to both residents and seasonal visitors exploring the Dalmatian coast. What visitors say
Reviewers have consistently highlighted the beach's tranquility and natural beauty. One visitor noted, 'A lovely little bay not much else,' while another described it as 'a place to relax, away from the noise of the town or a lot of tourists.' However, some comments caution about the lack of nearby food supplies, with one reviewer advising, 'take in consideration that food is not accessible (supermarket etc) and you have to have food supplies with you.' These insights reflect the beach's character as a secluded spot requiring self-sufficiency.Practical tips
Due to the absence of nearby food supplies, it's advisable to bring sufficient provisions for your visit. The beach's pebbly surface may require sturdy footwear for walking. Clean, spacy, fabulous
A lovely little bay not much else
If you are searching for a place to relax, away from the noise of the town or a lot of tourists ,being in the nature, very close to the sea, with amazing waters, this is your place. The rooms are clean and spacious with wonderful view. Given the fact the place is a remote one, take in consideration that food is not accessible (super market etc) and you have to have food supplies with you.
