Grabar Beach, Croatia
Located on the island of Cres in northern Croatia, Grabar Beach stretches 420 meters along a straight shoreline. This pebble beach offers natural shade from surrounding vegetation and gentle waters that slope gradually into the sea. With its proximity to the ACI marina and clear waters, it serves as a convenient stop for yacht charter guests exploring the Adriatic coast.
Beach character
The beach consists of beige pebbles, with a smooth gradient from the shore to deeper waters. Its 20-meter width accommodates a moderate number of visitors, though high-season crowds can make the shoreline densely packed. Natural shade is provided by coastal vegetation, making it a comfortable spot for sunbathing during peak hours. The sea floor is composed of pebbles, and the depth increases gradually, creating a safe environment for children and non-swimmers.
Swimming and shore
The shallow, gradually deepening waters make Grabar Beach suitable for families with young children. The pebble substrate may require caution for barefoot swimmers, though reviewers note the texture is manageable. The absence of artificial structures means the beach maintains a natural character, with no designated swimming zones or lifeguard services. The clear water quality, confirmed by multiple visitors, enhances the swimming experience.
Facilities and activities
No formal amenities such as showers, toilets, or umbrellas are available on-site. However, a free public shower is accessible nearby, as noted by one visitor. The beach supports two main activities: cycling along the coastal path and water-based entertainment, which may include kayaking or paddleboarding. Dogs are permitted, with signage directing pet owners to designated areas.
Access and location
The beach is accessible via a road that is closed to cars during peak times, reducing vehicular traffic. Bicycle access is permitted, aligning with the coastal cycling infrastructure popular among tourists. Its location near the ACI marina makes it a convenient landing point for yachts, with fuel stations and boat services within short distances. The coordinates (44.95119, 14.41497) place it on the northern coast of Cres, within reach of other Adriatic destinations.
What visitors say
Visitors have reported mixed experiences based on seasonality. In August 2025, János Dormán described the beach as 'underrated' with ample shade and clear waters, though he noted the pebbles had sharp edges. Novice's November 2022 review highlighted the beach's suitability for children and its cleanliness. Both reviewers agreed on the lack of excessive crowds during off-peak times, though high-season visitors should expect a more crowded atmosphere.
Practical tips
Arrive early during peak season to secure a spot on the beach. Use the information signs to identify pet-friendly areas. The road closure to cars reduces noise but means parking options are limited to nearby lots. Cyclists should follow the designated coastal path to avoid disrupting beachgoers.

Reviews
Underrated city beach, but fits our needs very well. Offers lots of shade, there are no bars with loud music, only people. There is a free public shower available to rinse off the saltwater. Although the ACI marina and the gas station for boars is not far away, the water was clear. The seafloor on the shore is added gravel with sharp edges, not rounded pebbles. The road is closed to cars, but there is bicycle traffic, so it is not available for putting down towels.
A small beach where there is no excessive crowd. The beach is suitable for small children, shallow water, pebbles. There is also a lot of natural shade. The water is clean.
