Fjord Beach - Bubani, Croatia
Beach character
The beach's unique geography creates a striking contrast between the rugged coastal landscape and the gentle curve of the cove. Brown pebbles dominate the shoreline, with occasional patches of sand near the water's edge. The mountainous backdrop provides natural shade during midday, though the pebble surface may make barefoot walking uncomfortable. The seabed, composed of large boulders, presents a challenge for swimmers but offers opportunities for exploring underwater terrain. The moderate depth increase ensures safe wading for most visitors, though caution is advised near the rocky sections.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Fjord Beach are influenced by the rocky seabed and pebble shore. The water is generally clear, with visitors reporting cool temperatures during summer months. The absence of artificial structures means there are no designated swimming areas, though the gradual depth increase allows for safe entry into the water. The pebble beach requires sturdy footwear for walking, and visitors are advised to bring their own towels and seating, as no beachside amenities are available.Facilities and activities
Fjord Beach does not have permanent facilities such as restrooms, showers, or umbrellas. However, the area is accessible to kayakers and surfers, with visitors noting the presence of natural currents suitable for these activities. The beach's proximity to a small lake, mentioned in some reviews, suggests potential for exploring nearby water bodies. Limited dining options are available in the surrounding area, with a few restaurants and a bar noted during peak season.Access and location
Fjord Beach is located in Bubani, a coastal settlement in Croatia. The exact coordinates (45.1321Β° N, 13.73355Β° E) place it near the Adriatic coast, with access via local roads connecting to the broader Dalmatian region. The beach's remote character means it is less crowded than major coastal resorts, though visitor numbers increase during summer months. Parking options are not explicitly documented in the beach catalog, but nearby settlements likely offer roadside parking for visitors. What visitors say
Visitors have consistently praised Fjord Beach's natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. PaweΕ Krawczyk noted the area's potential to be 'even better when the restaurants come to life in summer,' while Marcel Dubois emphasized the need for 'water shoes' due to the rocky terrain. James Firman highlighted the 'beautiful scenery' and 'quiet' environment, though all reviewers recommended bringing personal seating and towels. The beach's moderate crowd levels during high season make it an appealing destination for those seeking solitude amidst dramatic coastal landscapes.Practical tips
Bring your own seating, towels, and water shoes to navigate the pebble beach and rocky shoreline. Check with local guides about the best times to visit for optimal water conditions. While the beach is generally quiet, summer months may see increased activity from nearby restaurants. Consider combining a visit with exploration of the surrounding mountains or nearby coastal settlements for a more comprehensive experience.Exploring the coast by yacht
Fjord Beach's location in Bubani places it within the broader Adriatic sailing region, offering opportunities for yacht charter travelers exploring the Dalmatian coast. The nearby coastline features anchorages and marinas that cater to both motor and sail boats, with sailing routes connecting to major ports like Split and Dubrovnik. Yacht charter guests may find the area appealing for its combination of secluded beaches and accessible coastal towns, though the rocky seabed near Fjord Beach suggests careful navigation for smaller vessels.Seasonal Considerations
While Fjord Beach is accessible year-round, its appeal varies by season. Summer months bring increased visitor activity and more vibrant nearby dining options, while off-peak seasons offer greater solitude. The beach's cleanliness is reported as poor in some periods, so visitors should manage expectations regarding maintenance levels.

Really beautiful place. We went there outside the main season but I can imagine it can be even better when the restaurants come to life in summer.
Nice place to spend your time at the small beach near the lake with ice cold water. Very quiet. Take your own chairs en towels with you. Don 't forget your water shoes.
Scenery is beautiful and its pretty quiet, couple of restaurants there and a bar
