Dubna Beach - Hidden Cove in Baška, Croatia
Dubna Beach lies in a sheltered cove along the Baška coastline, framed by rugged mountains and accessible via a winding trail. This 60-meter stretch of beige pebbles offers a tranquil escape with moderate water depth and minimal crowds during peak season. While the beach is clothing optional, its natural beauty and proximity to hiking trails make it a unique destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.
Beach character
The beach's defining feature is its crescent shape, nestled between steep hills that create a natural barrier against strong waves. The seabed consists of smooth pebbles, with depth increasing gradually from the shore. The mountainous backdrop provides dramatic views, while the surrounding area remains relatively undeveloped, preserving the beach's untouched character. Visitors note the warm, clear waters and the sense of seclusion afforded by the landscape.
Swimming and shore
The pebbled shore requires sturdy footwear for comfortable access, though the water's moderate depth makes it suitable for swimmers of varying abilities. Snorkeling is popular due to the clear visibility, though one reviewer noted it's not a "special" snorkeling spot. The beach's orientation within the bay results in minimal wave action, making it a calm environment for swimming and water activities.
Facilities and activities
No formal facilities are present at Dubna Beach, but its natural setting supports kayaking, surfing, and snorkeling. The clothing-optional policy is a notable feature, with multiple reviewers emphasizing the beach's naturist-friendly atmosphere. Hiking trails along the coastline connect to Vela Luka, offering extended exploration opportunities. A taxi boat service is recommended for those seeking easier access from Baška.
Access and location
Reaching Dubna Beach requires a 1.5-hour hike from Baška via a rocky trail, as noted by visitors. Alternative access includes a taxi boat service, though this option is less frequently used. The beach's remoteness contributes to its peaceful character, though this may deter some visitors seeking easier access. Its location within the Baška peninsula places it near other coastal attractions in the region.
What visitors say
Reviewers consistently highlight the beach's tranquility and scenic beauty, with one describing it as "very nicely hidden by mountains in the bay." The clothing-optional policy is a recurring theme, though no formal facilities are mentioned. While most praise the beach's natural setting, one visitor noted the 1.5-hour hike as a potential drawback. The warm water and moderate depth are frequently cited as favorable conditions for swimming and snorkeling.
Practical tips
Bring sturdy footwear for the pebbled shore and consider a taxi boat for easier access. The hiking trail offers panoramic views but requires careful navigation. Due to the beach's remoteness, visitors should plan for limited amenities and arrive prepared for a self-sufficient day trip.
Exploring the coast by yacht
For yacht charter guests exploring the Baška coastline, Dubna Beach offers a secluded anchorage option within the broader sailing area. The nearby marinas in Baška provide access to the region's network of coves and beaches. Euro-Agent's yacht charter services can facilitate trips to this and other destinations along the Croatian coast, with options for motor yachts and sailboats available through the Yacht Search page.
Seasonal Considerations
The beach's minimum crowd index during high season ensures a peaceful experience, though visitors should be aware of seasonal variations in water temperature and trail conditions. The warm waters noted in summer reviews may contrast with cooler conditions in early spring.

Very tranquil and beautiful beach. It is very nicely hidden by mountains in the bay, so there are very small waves and warm water. I highly recommend renting a kayak to reach this place. The beach is clothing optional:)
