Dog Beach Jadra - A Unique Coastal Experience in Stara Novalja, Croatia
Beach character
Dog Beach Jadra is a 30-meter-long straight shore beach characterized by boulders, with a concrete sea floor that slopes sharply downward. The beach’s natural features include a clean, well-maintained environment, as noted by visitors, and its suitability for children despite the rocky terrain. The absence of artificial amenities emphasizes its raw, natural appeal, making it a spot for those who appreciate unspoiled coastal landscapes.Swimming and shore
Swimming conditions at Dog Beach Jadra are defined by its sharp depth increase, which can make entry into the water abrupt. This feature, while potentially challenging for very young children, creates a safe, shallow area near the shore for wading. The water’s clarity is a standout feature, supporting activities like snorkeling and diving. However, the lack of shaded areas means visitors should prepare for direct sunlight exposure, especially during peak hours.Facilities and activities
Facilities at Dog Beach Jadra are minimal, focusing on its natural attributes rather than structured amenities. The beach does not have showers, restrooms, or beach bars, but visitors report sufficient parking nearby. Activities include snorkeling and diving, with the clear waters attracting marine life. The beach’s dog-friendly policy is highlighted by designated areas marked with information signs, making it a rare spot where pets can join their owners on the sand.Access and location
Located in Porat 12, Stara Novalja, Dog Beach Jadra is part of Croatia’s Lika-Senj region, known for its dramatic coastline and historic landmarks. Access involves navigating a rocky road to a parking spot adjacent to the beach. The area’s proximity to other attractions, including nearby villages and cultural sites, makes it a convenient stop for travelers exploring the region’s mix of natural and historical interests. What visitors say
Visitors consistently praise Dog Beach Jadra for its pristine waters and scenic views. One reviewer noted, 'The water is very clear, the scenery is amazing,' while another highlighted the beach’s suitability for dogs: 'Dogs meeting point, they like it!' However, some mention the rocky road to parking and the absence of shade as considerations. The beach’s minimal crowd levels, even in high season, align with its 'Minimum' crowd index, offering a tranquil experience for those seeking solitude.Practical tips
Bring sun protection due to the lack of shade. Use designated signs for dog-friendly areas. Be mindful of the rocky road to the parking spot. The beach’s sharp depth increase makes it ideal for snorkeling but less suited for very young children.Exploring the coast by yacht

Reviews
We had a great experience with this dog beach. It is a bit harder to get there - there is a parking spot right next to the beach but the road is very rocky so we were a but scared about the car. We came twice in our three day stay because it is such a nice beach. Yes, there is no shadow and probably when busy, there might not be enough space BUT since we were there alone once and second time with only one other couple, we had a great time. The water is very clear, the scenery is amazing and the access to water from the platform was actually nice for the dog.
Peace and quiet. No beach bar, no shadow. Good parking.
Bring an 🏖️ no shadow otherwise.. Super clean and transparent water.. Dogs meeting point, they like it!
Great spot for snorkeling 🤿, dogs are having fun as well 🐶! Lika-Senj
