Cava Beach, Croatia
Cava Beach, located in Krnica on Croatia's Adriatic coast, is a small cove beach characterized by its beige pebble shoreline and natural cliff formations. Situated at coordinates 44.93367, 14.04127, the beach offers a unique blend of natural beauty and recreational activities. Its proximity to Krnica, a coastal settlement known for its maritime heritage, makes it a notable destination for visitors seeking both relaxation and water-based pursuits.
Beach character
The beach spans approximately 120 meters in length and 30 meters in width, forming a sheltered cove protected by natural cliffs. The predominant surface is composed of beige pebbles, which create a distinct textural contrast against the clear waters. The seabed is similarly covered in medium-sized pebbles, a feature noted by visitors as both a natural characteristic and a consideration for certain groups. The cliffs surrounding the beach provide natural shade, offering respite from direct sunlight during peak hours. The beach's landscape is described as 'picturesque,' with views that extend across the coastal area.
Swimming and shore
The beach's depth increases sharply near the shore, a characteristic that has been highlighted in visitor reports. This feature makes the beach particularly suitable for swimmers who prefer calmer, shallower waters, though it may present challenges for those unaccustomed to sudden depth changes. The pebbly seabed, while not ideal for barefoot swimming, is well-suited for activities such as snorkeling and surfing. The beach is explicitly recommended for children, suggesting that the gradual slope and manageable depth contribute to a safer swimming environment.
Facilities and activities
Cava Beach does not have structured amenities such as showers, restrooms, or designated parking areas. However, it supports several water-based activities, including stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), surfing, and snorkeling. These activities are aligned with the beach's natural features, such as its pebbly seabed and sheltered cove. The absence of formal facilities means visitors should plan accordingly, though the beach's natural setting compensates with its scenic appeal and recreational opportunities.
Access and location
Access to Cava Beach requires navigating a set of steps leading down from the road near Luka Krnica b.b. This feature has been mentioned in visitor reviews as both a minor inconvenience and a characteristic of the beach's coastal positioning. The beach is located within the broader Krnica area, a settlement that serves as a gateway to the surrounding Adriatic coastline. Its proximity to Krnica means it is accessible to visitors exploring the region, though the steps may necessitate careful navigation, particularly for those with mobility considerations.
What visitors say
Visitors have consistently highlighted the beach's scenic quality and the ambiance of its waterfront setting. One reviewer noted the 'glorious beach' and 'great service,' emphasizing the presence of a DJ and the availability of cocktails and food. Another described it as 'one of the most wonderful beach clubs in Europe,' citing the combination of good scenery, class, and recreational opportunities. However, some visitors have mentioned the steps as a challenge, with one commenting on the need to 'climb up and down' to reach the beach. The overall experience is characterized by a balance between natural beauty and curated amenities.
Practical tips
Visitors should be prepared for the steps leading to the beach and the pebbly nature of the shoreline. Comfortable footwear is recommended for navigating the steps and walking on the pebbles. Given the beach's popularity, arriving early in the day may help avoid crowds during peak season. The absence of formal facilities means bringing personal items such as sunscreen, towels, and refreshments is advisable.

Again everywhere shut for winter but lovely place apart from the steps down and UP to get there
What a place!! Glorious beach, great service and a DJ. We laid here chilling all day with cocktails and food. We sat on the front row by the water looking out. Yes it's expensive but you get what you pay for 🌞
Been here in ‘19, pre-covid. Beautiful location. Exactly where you want to be if you like good drinks, a good scenery and some level of class. One of the most wonderful beach clubs in Europe I have been. Definitely worth a visit!
